Turret autofire AI is on automatically whenever a turret is on unless a player is controlling it at that moment. Annoyingly, there is no way to switch off the turret AI, so if you want a turret to be only manually controlled then it must be switched off all the time it is not being controlled.
Hope this helps.
One common solution I've seen for this is to set the turret ranges to the bare minimum. Players can still fire out to any range, but if an enemy ship is close enough that the turret AI detects it, you've already lost the battle.
I got the limiiters right but how do you limit the gyroscopes.
How do you fire guns on the turret.
to set the power of the gyroscope there is slider in the menu to adjust its power. you shouldnt need it though, as for the it "hitting itself" do you mean its guns shooting itself or do you mean it bounces outside of the roter peramiters? as the second is most likely ill answer on that basis.... it shouldnt matter too much if it bounces around and knocks itself. the only time you need to worry is when your slamming it about at high enough speeds to damage itself, if thats happening add some artificial mass to slow it down or reduce the gyroscope power.
as for firing the guns simply take controll of the turret with its rc and then use the g menu to select (from weapons and tools tab) your weapon and put it on the toolbar in the same way you would with any other weapon/ tool.
have a look at my design it uses some mods but the principles of turrets are there for you to get your head around

Do I need the conveyor for survival mode.
Thanks for the help.
dont rely on the boundries set on a rotor, they are exceptionally buggy and without torque (if you have it you cant move manually) the rotor has no force to prevent it going over the boundries. so try to rely on human judgment on that one.
if you mean your making a mod with big guns then i have no idea. if you just mean your attaching pre existing then its quite simple. when oin control of the turret go g menu and drag and drop inot place onto toolbar
Hope this helps. [/quote]
There is actually a way to create manual only turrets now. I know im a bit late but simply ticking all targeting options in the turret as OFF allows you to only fire it when its player controlled
