To set up a cockpit for manual turret control, just sit in the cockpit, find the turret you want in the G menu, drag to toolbar and select 'Control' from the list. Press the number for that hotbar slot and you will be controlling the turret. Press T to disengage manual turret control.

Turret autofire AI is on automatically whenever a turret is on unless a player is controlling it at that moment. Annoyingly, there is no way to switch off the turret AI, so if you want a turret to be only manually controlled then it must be switched off all the time it is not being controlled.

Hope this helps.

Geez thanks well like a lot of this game I don't know about the advanced controls for these things.

One common solution I've seen for this is to set the turret ranges to the bare minimum. Players can still fire out to any range, but if an enemy ship is close enough that the turret AI detects it, you've already lost the battle.

What I originally wanted to do is to create big turrets for use in survival mode or basic fighting.

I got the limiiters right but how do you limit the gyroscopes.

How do you fire guns on the turret.

You would need to use a remote control on the turret and a camera since the remotes do not have a camera option. You could control it without the camera but would have no way of knowing where the turret is facing.

I did already try that but the turrret keeps hitting itelf

well creating turrets is actually rather simple to do but difficult to explain. as long as the gyroscope RC and camera are all on the final part (the bit with the guns) and your rotors all have 0 torque you should be good to go.

to set the power of the gyroscope there is slider in the menu to adjust its power. you shouldnt need it though, as for the it "hitting itself" do you mean its guns shooting itself or do you mean it bounces outside of the roter peramiters? as the second is most likely ill answer on that basis.... it shouldnt matter too much if it bounces around and knocks itself. the only time you need to worry is when your slamming it about at high enough speeds to damage itself, if thats happening add some artificial mass to slow it down or reduce the gyroscope power.

as for firing the guns simply take controll of the turret with its rc and then use the g menu to select (from weapons and tools tab) your weapon and put it on the toolbar in the same way you would with any other weapon/ tool.

have a look at my design it uses some mods but the principles of turrets are there for you to get your head around

The turret was hitting itself out of bound from the limitattion I put on the rotor. Also I'm working on some big guns so how do you make them fire.

Do I need the conveyor for survival mode.

Thanks for the help.

the conveyor system is neccesary in survival mode. the simplest way to work it out is to have a decent size magazine on the turret itself and then connect when you are spent.

dont rely on the boundries set on a rotor, they are exceptionally buggy and without torque (if you have it you cant move manually) the rotor has no force to prevent it going over the boundries. so try to rely on human judgment on that one.

if you mean your making a mod with big guns then i have no idea. if you just mean your attaching pre existing then its quite simple. when oin control of the turret go g menu and drag and drop inot place onto toolbar

Looks like I have to do it without the mouse control and do it manually. How do you get the gun to fire. Been trying to get the 25 rak from the CSD Battlecannon mod to work.

Nevermind found out the hard way.

Um how do you center the turret to paste?

There is actually a way to create manual only turrets now. I know im a bit late but simply ticking all targeting options in the turret as OFF allows you to only fire it when its player controlled
