or a connector

either one works

I'd say a connector is more stable. Both should work fine, but I have a big ship with escape pods in it which are held in place by a landing gear. And those littel pods are shaking like crazy and cause the big ship to drift away.

You can adjust the strength of a landing gear, but you can't adjust the strength of connectors. Note: if the landing gear have infinite strength, they will be haunted and malicious.

Both are good. I use connector on stations and landing gear on blast doors on carriers. The problem with conector on Carrier ships is that sometimes they blow up even if the connected ship has the gyro and all thrusters turned off. At least thats my expieriance

I normally use both at the same time but have the landing gear force turned down so they use just enough to lock and no more.
I've never had any problems this way.

DONT USE LANDING GEAR. They are supper bugged out and after a while will destroy both the ship and whatever they are attached to.

If you want something like landing gear that actually work without danger then use the maglock ones.
connectors allow you to transport materials and such, and their more stable, so yep connectors

We have a super ship build that we're working on and I have made working super turrets that have elevators, rotating cockpits and such that normally will break your ship apart; especially when moving. The succesful solution, was to use both actually; especialy when you want to transport cargo. This is our basic blueprint.

N= normal blocks C = connect L= landing gear

Note: landing gear is used in cooperation with pistons for accurate distance. Advanced models by others in the community also use sensors to detect when within 1m to stop all mechanical parts.

We use a connector for the power and in our case ammo distribution, while useing the landing gear to decrease collisions normally associated with high speed. It also allows the turrets to nicely lower themselves into a locked position. Of course, we do put one setup in each corner for a cement finish.

Connector is not so stable like landing gear... with connectors can it happen the ship open the connector... with 1 landing gear can the ship break... i use 2 landing gears now and it works...
Maybe its possible to construct the ship in a way that you use connector and landing gears at the same time.

Thats what I do, as you can see here, connector and landing pad but you can do the same with landing gear.
