3d printed spaceships? That sounds amazing!
Do you think we could eventually get lego-type prints, to build your own ships irl, just like in-game?

That is epic! I don't suppose there would be a place to check out some of the ships players have printed, would there?

I'd imagine that costs scale according to ship size... It would make sense, considering the diffrent time and materials costs.
I'd imagine that the large ship blocks might be scaled to 1 block=1 inch. The issue is that depending on the ship, there could be wildly different sizes.
I have a ship on the workshop that, if it were printed at the 1 block=1 inch scale, would be over 10 feet long. I'd imagine that costing much more than the printed examples from the official post, both in time and materials used.

I remember the first attempt to pitch this idea. It was presented so early and had too many prices involved it ended up causing two weeks of minor PR backlash.

Thankfully the playbase is so large and they kept the pricing out of the way that this time this should work. So good job KeenSWH, I admire your tenacity and ability to learn from past mistakes (as minor as they are). Your pitch this time came out much better than before.

I think it would be realy funny if you have a lego set of space engineers block at home and make some realy fancy ship there.
Or just get a Fully 3-D printed ship. Both would be realy epic

I don't think you guys get it. You give BinaryNow/KSH/whatever it's called the file, and they print it For you. I think it's quite possible to print your own by simply exporting the model (ctrl-E).

Now, if only I could build something that looked good enough to be printed

No it is not. Export is only definition file and Space Engineers Prints actually replaces current non-printable blocks with a 3D printable blocks. Also their printer is the only full color plastic printer on the market, quite expensive. So unless you have spare $100k for printer you will not be able to do it on your own. This may change in the future, but today this is best printer for job.
