How to find few missing parts on a large blueprint?
Hello, i'm trying to build my first large ship via projector and few parts aren't built i've checked whole ship inside out for 1 hour straight(Find few) but other's are missing is there anyway to highlight missing parts? Like mod or some in-game tech that i don't know about?

Correctly welding up a large ship from a workshop blueprint is tricky and takes some practice. I suggest moving or duplicating the blueprint and then jetpacking through it to see if you can spot the missing parts. Unless the missing blocks are just armor, in which case if you can't see them then they're probably not important. Another alternative would be to just find new places for the missing blocks.

You could take the blueprint in to creative, spawn it and give it a nice primary colour that contrasts with the normal colour scheme. It may also be worth print screening the components in the menu.

Go back to survival and project that over the top. it may highlight blocks that are not welded. You can then cross check the names of the components in the menu to find say a missing thruster up 3 for example. At least then you know which part of the ship to look at.

Yeah it really tricky and long. Since i didn't wanna build a large printer for it and tried to wield it by hand. But the parts i am missing is internal somewhere deeply in the ship few tubes that essential for all cargo setup to work(So i can't just exchange it) But one gyro for sure can be placed elsewhere.

I'll try the mod thank you.

Same as above i don't think it will help since it's not outer layer that's missing. There is few outerparts that missing maybe but idc about it.

Thanks everyone for all ideas and hints some of them gonna be helpful in my future build for sure :)

Hi, the only thing I found that helped me is to enable "Spectator" in advanced world settings so I can use to fly through walls/floors and see the missing blocks.

F8 is the spectator and hit F6 to return to character.

Spectator Keys if you need :

F8 Enter spectator mode
Ctrl+Space teleports player to spectator position
Shift + scroll wheel changes the speed of the spectator camera
Ctrl + Scroll Wheel changes the pitch, yaw and roll speed
Holding shift increases the speed as if you were 'sprinting'
F6 Exit spectator mode

This is truly the best way to ensure a blueprint is built, especially a complex one.

i also use the build and repair mod for blueprints.
If you are stuck in survival mode (like on a server), you can build a timer block and set it to toggle the projector on and off once every few seconds. Be sure your projector is set to "Keep Projection" so the blueprint doesn't disappear once you shut it off. It might be easier to spot a missing block if its projection blinks. It takes a couple moments for a projection to fill in on a large ship, so try and give the timer enough time.

Depending on the missing block, you could also use a timer to turn all blocks of the same type on and off... especially those with emissives (lights) that change when the block is on and off. A block that's just a projection won't blink with the timer block. You can find them that way as well. You can set missing lights and spotlights to blink on their own without a timer as well.

Another way I just remembered is to
  1. paste the blueprint into a creative world (I keep a separate save for just this reason)

  2. Open the ship's control panel and find the blocks that are missing in your survival world

  3. set them all to 'Show on Hud'

  4. if the ship has an antenna, turn it on. If it doesn't have one, give it one

  5. The blocks will all now show up on your hud as if they're all antennas, allowing you to quickly locate them.

  6. Now that you know where the blocks are, you should be able to go back into your survival world/server and weld them up

Unfortunately this only works for powered blocks so it won't help with missing conveyors

I keep a tier 1 torch around for this, it has the shortest range, I then do my best to weld up from the inside out.
I rarely miss blocks with this method, but you do have to go slowly and methodically.
This method probably will not work well for someone who is in too big of a hurry or lacks a good amount of patience...

Yeah i tried this and found few conveyor tubes that missing this way(Glad you can just build in spectator). But few other blocks i just couldn't find. The ship i was building was too complex in build apparently and so much blocks are hidden in-between massive amounts of armor blocks and you have no access to these blocks cuz they completely inside of other blocks. So nanobots repair mod helped a lot with that.

Yeah... I can't imagine someone has this kind of patience with T1 torch building a large ship. Even with Tier 3 torch some blocks take so long to wield. But in other hand about the same time i used to find missing parts on my ship that was built with T3 torch lmao
