THREE new updates coming to Space Engineers (1)
Since this has come up so many times with all the trolls claiming they somehow know that there will be no more updates to SE, I figured I'd post this to its own thread.

The guy's audio is pretty muddy, so if you can turn down your bass and turn up your midrange, it should be easier to hear.

In a presentation, they show mention of features coming in 1.206 (which has been teased already), 1.207, and 1.208.

1.206: focus on QoL improvements, bugfixes, and overhauled cargo ship behavior (not just a block update as several claim).
1.207: enhancing survival, new game options including environmental hazards!
1.208: improving PvP

Glad to still see space engineers 1 updates. Its clear after today's tech demo of space engineers 2 that we still have many years to go before space engineers 2 will become a game of its own.

thx for this post ... it gets sometimes forgotten, that we talk here about SE ;)
While I'm excited about a finished SE2, SE1 still has so much to offer. Everyone is getting excited about that "new" paint spray gun, but I've had that sprayer for I think years now, thanks to the original mod that inspired it. And while I love the idea of unified grid, I've been able to use the various tricks in SE1 to achieve similar results, at least to a level that satisfies me.

I also see people saying "SE2 looks so much better than SE1", but I don't see it being THAT much of a visual upgrade. And I worry that the visual upgrade this is there will cost me dearly in performance..

So yes, long live Space Engineers #1 !!! :D
really?
It's going to be a couple of years before Space Engineers 2 is fully built-out with multiplayer etc. Until then, it's a tech-demo. Apart from getting some early access money, Keen needs to keep that DLC gravy-train alive in SE1. I would imagine that there will probably be at least 6 updates left in this 11 year old game.
The video claims update 1.206 will include Quality of Life (QoL) improvements, bug fixes and "overhauled cargo ship behavior".
· Modernized UI (they're changing the UI again...)
· Cargo Ship Improvements.
· Action Slot UI Improvements
· New Prototech block and encounter(s).
· QoL improvements and bug fixes.

1.207 update will concentrate on enhancing survival gameplay, adding many new options to the game including environment hazardds.

1.208 will aim to improve and expand PVP.

I'm still on a GTX GPU for the foreseeable future, so I don't get the raytracing.
To me, the textures are a lot nicer, the shadows are visually better, but without raytracing I get none of the reflections everyone goes all goey about.
So yeah, the difference, visually, is there, but not huge if you don't have raytracing.

Then again, I couldn't play beyond "medium" settings (it defaulted to "low" for me).
My card is *just* shy of specs. The minimum is a GTX 1660 Super, while mine is a normal GTX 1660. IIRC, the difference is DDR5 vs DDR6, with the Super being about 10% faster (my wife and kid both have the Super).
I mention that because "High" or "Ultra" (or whatever it is beyond "High") might look substantially better (you need way more than 6GB VRAM for "High").

Now that I think of it, I'm very curious how some youtubers got visors that reflect in SE(1).
Yes! People who complain don't understand that we are having the best parts of the two worlds. By the time SE2 will take it's first steps towards stable multiplayer, SE1 will mature beyond it's current state into something better as well. We'll have two good games.
