Advise for new start?
Welp..

It's been awhile, and I think I'm going to start a new (mostly) vanilla play through. My goal, simply enough will be to build something meaningful on every world in Star system survival.

Wow. Lots has changed. New blocks, Factorum stuff. This should be fun.

Question:
What settings do I use to allow for all the new encounters on planets and stuff?
I have a start I started maybe a year or so ago, and I really like my start location and stuff, and have the equivalent of an easy start there. Can I use that one and still populate planetary encounter and Factorum stuff?

You can use old saves, the new options will be in your save options, I think they are on by default.

The global encounter cap is iirc the space factorum spawns, the planet ones I believe are random encounters.
I started up a server I haven’t touched in years (using torch). Worked immediately, even with tons of old dead mods, so you absolutely can start up your old saves.

I would recommend giving the workshop a real good look through, at least the top most subscribed and top rated categories. I’m guessing you use at least a few, but the thing that building something “meaningful” means so many things to this player base lol.

For example, a meaningful structure to me can stand up to multiple waves of enemies from the Reavers mod.

I’ll spend a month making a monster of a grid on a planet only to look up the sky, build a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ basic craft that will almost certainly crash on entry, then delete all my gps waypoints figuring, if what I made was impressive (meaningful) enough I’ll find it again someday lol.

as in the old days my man:
build base on earth
build miner
build miner for space
build space base
build miner with JD
build warship , drones and ask friends to go together to the signals
.....make sure every ship has its suvivalkit/medroom(if possible).....

Hi, keep in mind that there will be less Trade stations (economy option) if you Max out all new encounters.

It's OK to use older saves but one encounter option can be setup on creating a new world only and will be set on default in older saves.

PVE options goes like this :

- Global Encounter Cap = Factorum Faction stations, enemy in space only.
- Encounter amount = Space and can be setup on creating a new world only.
- Random encounters = Space only
- Enable Drones = Space only.
- Enable planetary encounters = All planets and moons.
- Spiders = On Alien, Titan and Pertam planets.
- Wolves = On Earth planet only.

Note

There are now a minimum of 3 Warships solutions to find :

1 - One able to conquer enemy SPRT stations on all planet, moons and space in worlds from Original Content Category.

2 - One able to complete "Escort Contract" at the Trade stations.

3 - One able to conquer and recover Unique High Tech Blocks at the Factorum Faction stations in space.

My advice as creative player where the survival is way too slow for me :

-> in New created world

1 -> Disable the option named "planetary encounters" but keep "Economy" enabled.

2 -> Start on Titan to have all ores very early with Trade station close to you.

3 - Save/exit to enable "planetary encounters" once you have a Trade station where you created a GPS coord to save its location.

Explore all 3 available Moons and the asteroids around those first to become RIch and build your Warship to conquer Factorum Faction.

Oh! I forgot something important.

-> We now must Claim NPC grid to stop the deletion timer.

Info is specified in the Official Guide :

Grid ownership “Claim NPC grid”
Grids stolen from NPCs will need to be claimed to prevent them from despawning. Claiming an NPC grid will transfer all of the grid’s PCU to you. Please note that you will still need to hack blocks to gain access and get full ownership!

The Factorum encounters are great opportunities for PVP on public and official servers. Battling over a limited resource has brought some new life to the game.

Factorum are tough and you only get 20K PCU, people are more likely to team up against them than to fight over them.
