I've been avoiding the ones that say requires specific dlcs cause I guess I don't have those yet. will deal with that later and get the dlcs. but the ships I've tried didn't have that text on them that I needed the dlc's.
One of them ended up pasting really strange. the outside looked like some force field for lack of a better description. it was the only one that did that tho.
The others are just normal atmo drillers. really clueless what's going on here
I'm wondering if maybe it's one of the mods I had from 5 years ago, still loaded, causing this. I might have to go pruning and see what I have loaded
I had the same issues
So I started exploring workshop more and found a couple that fly just fine but they weren't very good I guess
So I was wondering if someone can link me a atmospheric driller that they use a lot so I could try that?
Try this one. It's part of PAM mode, but still functional without it.
Sometimes when you add the engines the game doesn't know what is the front; if the cockpit wasn't placed first.
there was one ship I really wanted to use but for some reason, the cockpit in the blueprint wasn't finished. so it was "there" but I had to build it up to finish it.
All of the ships that I couldn't fly just drop to the ground. as if the engines were all off even tho visually it looks like they are on.
The one or two I did get to fly, when I spawned them in they stayed there. but then as I flew or mined with them, I think both ended up on their back and once there, couldn't do anything. was like being a turtle. which is why I wanted someone to recommend one to verify this wasn't a skill issue.
I'll give that one a shot now. thanks
so I guess somethings up with a bunch of ships in workshop then.
I saw mention of how sometimes workshop doesn't properly identify when a dlc is used. I wonder if this is the case here. I absolutely don't have all the dlcs.
Thanks again for all the help
Unlike survival where you weld it all up, creative is a snapshot at the time of build and may include inventory items, survival is build as you go and typically batteries are at minimal, thrusters would be on, gyros working etc.
So dont be surprised if some grids drop out the air, the user may have left the grid off, tanks or batteries empty and other blocks off, you will have to get them all working again to find out how well the grid works. For we know, the creator built it in space :D
Only way prints will fail in creative is the author messed it up.
Been awhile since i last used creative, what i found was batteries and tanks start in their default and then recharge/fill up, has this changed? A spawned blueprint may still have no power/empty tanks initially if its unchanged and then charge/fill up tanks.
Otherwise agreed, its down to the creator setting the grid or blocks to a state which on spawn is messing up the experience of using them.
Yes they do charge/fill visually. But the speed is as if you stuck a couple 3x3 large grid reactors to the side of them.
I use it with my Drilling Rigs but it need Gas station/Recharging station because Hydro thrusters and Batteries :

I use to collect underground horizontal ore vein, it's Tiny to avoid doing a too big hole with my Drilling Rig where I keep the Drill arm extended so my Tiny Drill ship can empty its Cago while underground :

Your welcome to try my drop drill ships, i know all work perfectly, they are designed to be one of the fastest ways to get a resource pickup. You simply fly to the resource, land on the surface (flat as possible), keep gyros on, turn off lift/all thrusters and let the drills do the work.
Right click is possible to excavate stone and drop in quickly then left click to drill through to the resource, onboard ejection system removes stone. Once loaded up, simply turn on the thrusters and gently wiggle up out the hole and take your resources home, simples.

For higher gravity planets up to 2G use these, they have more thrust at a lost of cargo:

Forgot to add, having the mod Build Info in your game is a great help with all the hotbar buttons as well as seeing how full the internal inventory is, a must for any play.
