@ The Free man : repairblocks would be a good idea, but the problem will probably be that they can only repair damaged areas that are still connected to the lets call it "Repair-Block" and this to a cargo-container (as u already wrote), a assembler and a generator (for constant supplies) i know you said repair DRONE but this if even ever will work when the factions are implied and the AI doesn't screw up as hell (a hinch to the AI of the convoy ships that are either selfdestructing when entered, or flying to eternaty when robed and you unfortunately let it pass after you see that its 79000meters away and still on the "map" so Repair-Blocks" would be a suggestion (think about it, we got the artificial mass block added last update)
Using spiked armor blocks and building a lot of sloped heavy armor helped a LOT we can probably get through a couple of hours on normal with having 2-500 steel plates for repairs on our base ( normal 3x3x3x )
