Trying to stabilize a ship with lots of drills
After running into trouble in my survival world, I went to creative for some testing. Here is the ship I started experimenting with:

It has 3 gyros, 8 drills (rotated so there are 2 in each of the four orientations), and 4 thrusters pointed in each direction. ~17 tons

I added some weight to take it up to 20 tons, and there was no change in behavior.

Doubling the thrusters also did not reduce the movement at all. I did notice each thruster's flame was shorter than when there were fewer thrusters. So, each seems to be working less and not at maximum output, but it's not enough to hold the ship still.

I later added more gyros (206 total) on varying axis and lots more weight (153 tons). And the dancing dropped significantly. But, the ship still bashes itself against the walls of tight areas while drilling.

Has anyone been able to find a reliable way to stabilize a mining ship?

It seems that only gyros are a stabilising factor. I've reduced the weight by tons, reduced the number of thrusters to the original, and increased the gyros to 355. The mining platform is now rock solid. AND it turns wicked fast. LOL.

Use symmetrical layouts for drills (2x2, 3x3, 4x4). Due to how the programming for the random vibrations of the drills works, drills' vibrations partially cancel each other out. Other than that, everything else you've tried does help.

Tipp: I have a small drill ship, with heavy armor und 4 drills. It doesn't shake and even if I bash against something, the weight of the ship is not enough to break something. You just cant mine so fast anymore.
These 100000 Drill Ships look rediciolous, also. We need big ship drills.

Also a Question: If you have 10 Drills in a row, how do you get the Materials out of the drills? You cant access the middle drills anymore o0

I leave a space between each drill and they mine just fine that way. Apparently, each drill head covers a one-block area beyond the space of the drill.

There is an access port on the back of the drill. If you don't cover it, you can get to the drill's inventory from behind the drill head.
