The connector is what you can use to convey goods and ore ect' you can use the marge block to form an airtight docking lock from ship to ship but not to transport goods through.
Yes that was the case until the last update made it not worth merging because the new connector now passes electricity through them and gives you full control over whatever you are connected to, if you use the merge and conveyer system the conveyor fuses together and you can't seperate again without grinding it away.
Then you'd be going back to the old method of using a connector on throw out mode with a collector on the other end. I don't believe that two connectors one block apart are close enough to couple.
Are you talking about when merging them or when flying them? Because my design will only be used to put them together once and then detach in an emercency situation.
When merging them, however, it seems all they can be used for is emergency detachment. The devs and the community are already aware the damage they cause was unintended. And maybe working to fix this issue in a later update, you can fly them no problem. But no matter the velocity you move these things, they damage components around them and themselves during merge process for large ships/stations.
