The shortcut will launch the game automatically and will try to join the server when it can connect to it.
EDIT: Ok, I've found how to. I did :
1.Right click on my windows desktop
2. New > Shortcut
3. When it asks where the link will point to, enter the text "steam://connect/IP_ADDRESS:27016" as said orb, of course, by replacing IP_ADDRESS
4. Launch it.
No. It. Does. Not. See the answer above : Steam's server browser determines the game upon connecting to the address and then launches that appropriate game.
But that still doesnt tell me how is steam knowing it. As i understand your answer steam is connecting to the server and asking it wich game it runs. And the opens the correct game according to the answer of the server?
And also: wow...
- the op is from 2014
- my question is from 2016
- got an reaction in 2019
