Undocking with merge blocks
I have two large ships. Both have merge blocks with one conveyor tube between them. I could "dock", conv worked fine, but when I tried to "undock", both ships were still connected hard. All merge blocks were disabled, no lights were on, but any attempt to move one ship away from the other resulted in moving them both. Am I missing something? Is there some special "undocking" procedure except turning off all merge blocks?

when you join ships with merge blocks, all blocks that touch along flat surfaces join eachother so if you have something like the basic armour blocks touching at the point of the join they merge periminantly regardless of wheather or not you turn off the merge blocks. So if you have those conveyor tubes connected they will stay connected regardless of the mege blocks being off

OK, so (if I understand you correctly) as long as there will be no armour blocks connecting together, I should be able to separate ships, even if they have temporarily common conveyor tube? I shall test that. Thank you.

Conveyor tubes are included, particularly if connected to the other conveyor tube. You either have to break one of the tubes, or find another design. Basically any block touching the other (other than the merge blocks) will be connected directly.

use connectors and collectors to pass things through the merged connections instead of a tube

Basically, When you dock two ships using the merge blocks, any block type other than merge blocks that has an adjoining face will become permanently joined.

Some components (such as connectors, collectors, and sloped armour blocks) can be touching and not join themselves together as long as they are oriented correctly. But most blocks will permanently connect if they are touching when the merge blocks connect.

Unless that surface cannot connect to anything.
For example, collector and connector surfaces will not connect.

I was thinking about connector-collector combo, but that's a one way connection. I would have to make two sets. Too bad conveyor tube gets merged permanently.
