There is an object called the projector which can be used to build ships from blueprints.

This is basically the answer you seek Believe.

However, to get into more detail about it...

Projector blocks will project a Blueprint you make in Creative mode or a Blueprint you download from the workshop.

The projector needs to be built for the same size grid as the ship you want to project...

If the ship is a large ship, the projector needs to be on a large grid, like a station, or another large ship. For a small ship, you need to basically start a new small ship, add a reactor, and then the projector to it.

After that projector is built, you need to load a Blueprint into the projector. To do that, go into the control panel of the ship/station that the projector is mounted on. After that, click on the Blueprints button, and it will bring up the Blueprints you have on your computer. Wait for the spinning blue icon to stop spinning (thats the blueprints from the workshop loading in) then double click on any blueprint you want to project and start building.

Maneuver the projected item close to another block on the same type of grid (large ship to a large ship/station block, small ship to a small ship block, probably the one you built to make the projector piece)

You NEED to have a block that the ship can be built off of. It needs to be "connected" to another grid to start it out, or else it will not let you weld any of the blocks.

You have other options in the projector, like "show only buildable" which I reccomend using AFTER you get it lined up with another block to start building it. This option lets you see only the blocks that can be built, and causes less lag with fewer "white noise" type blocks being projected. If lag isnt an issue to you, go ahead and project the whole thing, but keep in mind the projector images can be hard to see if you got every single block welded up...

And yes, projector blocks, and the blueprrints you load in them, will require resources to build.

If you want to skip this, load the world in Creative mode, paste in the ship, then switch the game back to survival mode...

Projectors can be complicated. There are many video tutorials. Personally, I like GasBandit's #10

Yeah what these folks said, projectors.

thank you so much for all the information i dont ever use creative mode because tbh it is a hollow victory i want everything i build to mean something gives me more depth

i will def try this out and watch the video posted from the comment under you ty and feel free to add me if you play on a multiplayer server i was thinking of starting on one of the high pop servers in a few days seems like a fun thing to do with a small group of people some competition would be interesting

Don't discount Creative Mode.

Use it as a simulator. Test concepts, Build out ship designs. Use it to make blueprints.

It can be very helpful when you play Survival.

trail and error is a part of life and game being an engineer isnt worth the reward if you cheat the work lol i test concepts with live materials and practicle application so some fail some blow up but the end result is alot of hard work well earned
