Warhead damage?
I did some experiments with warheads and i am confused on how it works.

Place it on the ground and it create's a massive whole.
Place it in a the center of a building and it barely scraching the building.
At most(and those where the lucky tests) you blow out a few blocks.

Can someone explain how warhead damage work.
It seems to do next to no damage to anything i would want to use it against(aka buildings)

Hi, another member seems to have problem with Warheads too in the discussion right next to yours so I recommend to create a world with Bug in ready for the SE programmers to test and send it directly to them.

All report directly to the SE Programmers :

Support Portal = https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers/pc
(create "Bug report" or "Request help"(Private) or "Feedback"(Petition) on the Portal)

Here some important Data we have to add in the report to help the SE programmer before they ask you :
Bug report Guide

All may use the Support Email to report the bugs found if they prefer :
Email = support@keenswh.com

The best would be to create a testing world set creative mode where you will try different setups till solution found, well if not bugged.

Test by creating 2 floors of blocks, one light armor and one heavy armor where you will drop a warhead on those to see the damages done.

That would be my first testing results to send directly to the SE programmers so they can test it, too.

Here some testing I've done where I launched Warheads from space :

It's a Mothership with Warhead Printers and I had to disable the Trash removal from the admin menu Alt+F10 to launch from space cause unpowered moving grids get deleted fast.

I also noticed they do a big hole on Voxel and not the same on armor blocks.

Here I messed up cause I was not properly aligned with the Planet Gravity so the Warhead touched my Mothership and exploded, here is the damage done :

Wierd.
I did the test and this time the building and the area around it blew up properly.

Magic fix! I am good at that ;)

Joke aside, it may be a random bug so I recommend to save if front of the bug next time it happens and send your save to the SE programmers.

Block damage mechanic is terrible ever since its been neffed.
International space station falling from space does almost no damage while moving bigger cargo container with forklift very slowly creates nuclear explosion of kinetic energy.

If you want explosions and collisions to works decently you need mod.

Thanks for the laugh.

Since a recent update, the damage caused by weapons and warheads to both voxels and structures is dependent on the system or server load and sim speed. It varies over a very wide range, the only way to get a clue if it will be a lot of damage is to watch the sim speed and try to time the detonation when it's at a peak.
