How do you build batteries at the start?
I started "solar system" and the Atmospheric Lander states it has enough supplies to build 6 solar panels and 2 batteries, and they require 120 power cells to make. There is only 40 in the cargo and if you grind the existing batteries then the power cells turn to scrap metal so i'm a little lost on how to make them considering it says i can make 2 from supplies onboard.

Deconstruct motors and bulletproof glass to get the silicon and nickel required for power cells. You have an abundance of each if you take apart the lander, you can even make a few more solar panels.

oh right, i assumed it meant i had enough given what it gives you in the cargo, is your way the actual way then or is there actually meant to be enough in cargo?

That appears to be a bug either in the text panel info or the actual placement of supplies in the cargo container. It has already been reported.

Building solar panels or batteries requires a lot of nickel and that is going to be your problem. I also didn't realize there wasn't enough power cells to build a battery until I had already committed them. It sucks that you can't grind them down.

If your not too commited yet, I would suggest starting over. Find where you want to build your base. Build a landing platform with a merge block in the center and add one to the lander. Merge the lander and base so the batteries in the lander can now power your base. Build solar panels off of your base to recharge the lander batteries through the merge block. You don't need extra batteries at the start, but you need a lot more than 6 solar panels to keep the 4 starting batteries charged.

The text panel implies that the needed items are in the container. It's a bug one way or the other.

The was supposed to be enough in cargo, But they supplied parts for two small-grid batteries instead. If you don't want to tear apart your lander for materials some of the solar cell parts will provide enough for one large grid battery with enough left for 5 solar panels. Get that set up and charging and you'll still have a working ship to find some nickel/silicon with to replace the last panel.

There is supposed to be enough in the box. Devs have stated they are aware of the issue.

The other option if you don't want to take the lander apart is to use some of the solar cells, they break down into nickel and silicon also, so you can make one less solar panel and the batteries. I would suggest only using one battery though, multiple batteries become wonky.
