Atmospheric thrusters stop working at random!
Had 2 full charged batteries on my small ship. Said more than 100 days of fuel on my ship while thrusters thrusting! Then boom thrusters stop working mid air for no reason. Ship was still powered up, didnt hit anything. I just fell outta the sky and couldnt do anything. Happend to me twice in two different ships. Anyone else having this problem?

If the thrusters overload the power network this will happen, i haven't played much with atmos yet but i have read that the atmos thrusters draw a tonne of power. I have had this by overloading a large ship with ion engines at full speed with the dampners on.

I'm pretty sure i had enough power. I never saw "overload" on the ship status thinger and i had already been flying for about 2 minutes at that speed. I thought it was because maybe i got too high up but i never went past 2k from surface and wouldnt the thrusters kick back in as you fell closer to ground?

Do thrusters maybe draw more power the higher up you are?

Atmospheric thrusters, as you might have guessed, require atmosphere to work. Fly too high and they'll cut out as the atmosphere thins at high altitude.

Thanks for your sass but like i said wouldnt they kick back in as you entered atmosphere...like the starter lander does. And ive only dropped in a lander twice but im pretty sure the thrusters kick in before 2k.

Apologies for the sass; wasn't intended. I come off dickish sometimes.

I think you might have a bug on your hands if they're not reenabling. You're right, they should come back online when you're in atmo again.

Ah crud! Guess I'll just stick singleplayer so I can load saves for the time being. Thx!

it might be a "turn it off and on again" thing.

Yeah maybe ill put thrusters on the hotbar and try that

I have had this happen a couple of times as well. I was flying a fighter that i had taken off from an atmospheric aircraft carrier, and the engines quit while i was actually lower than the carrier.

I wonder if this bug is related somehow to the "area on planet inexplicably devoid of oxygen" bug I've read about...

I think it's something linked to batteries, because I had the same behaviour with the ion thrusters... I launched a satellite with some batteries fully charged, a couple of reactors and a solar panel and sometimes the energy grid overloads (With the batteries set to discharge or with them set to recharge with full energy - they will not drain energy). If I turn off the battery block everything runs fine. Even without solar panels, they act weird and this can cut off the thrusters.

But that would mean it sticks to the ship then? Because said carrier was still flying fine.

Also i was using reactors.

I'm pretty sure this is a bug related to the removal of parts and when your ship breaks. I've had it happen to me 3 time now while adding a part to a ship, then breaking it down to get better placement. It's like the thruster's code to de-activate when disconconnected from power is sometimes becoming true when you remove something else from the grid. It's happened with a pattery pack (fully carged) when I disconnected my ship from the charging station (Something I had done 3 times beforethat night). All batteries set to semi-auto discharge. When I misplaced a cargo container, broke it down and accidently the block behind it causing the ore detector to fall off. The last time when I had the ship hovering so I could replace a broken suspension, misplaced it and the thrusters deactivated when I broke down the non-complete wheel, causing the ship to fall breaking the other wheels.

I'm having a weird issue where my ship just stops completely once I zero out speed, even in planet gravity it will happen. It happens ALL the time while mining. I have to bump Q or E each time it happens and the thrusters will kick in and the ship will start responding to physics again.
