Anyone know how long night and day is supposed to last on a planet?
I've been in total darkness for about 3 real time hours as of now. Adjusting the length of day doesn't seem to do anything either. Just puts the world in sun down position and the turns into eternal night. Really messing with my base since it is currently solar powered with only 7 days of power left in the batteries. Any one have a fix since it's as if the world isn't rotating.

Whatever the world setting is. Default cycle time is 2 hours, meaning 1 hour of night and 1 of day. Also you may have sun rotation turned off.

Also keep in mind that the sun rotates in one direction only, so if you build your base near lets say the poles of the planet, you may never really get sun. I would make a copy of your world, and fly around in creative/spectator to figure out where the sun is rotating(set it on like 5 minute day/night cycle, or whatever the shortest is that it still rotates.

Yeah i thought maybe this but you would think you would notice SOME movement. Must be the unluckiest spawn ever.

when your setting up your game, it gives you the option to change the day/night time. the longest is 1 day. you can change it again in the advanced options before you start the game.

OK it is working right, I just tested it on one minite cycles. Didn't know it went that low. Most games 1 hour is one minite, so I assumed thats how it was setup. Kind of a interesting concept to operate in real time.

Dear god no. I tried playing on a day z server that was synched to local time. While novel at first in the winter I get off work at 5:30 and home by 6:30 and can maybe play by 8. It gets dark at 5. Playing a game in the dark all the time sucks. 1-2 hour is as high as I will go.

Awe but it's fine getting maimed by zobies in the pitch dark or night. Although it doesn't do much good for bases when you just started out and the day is set to 12 hours at first. Since solar is you main source of power then. Until you find uranium at least. I didn't start in a world that provided a free base or anything. I only had the materiels from the planetary lander to start which only has a oh so woping 0.3 uranium ingots on it.

Hate to bring up Minecraft.. but a sleep option in cryo-pods that would reset your time to morning would be great for this game.

Not just for light, but waiting the 3 months it'd take to get the platinum to make a large ship thruster. Or reaching a planet 500'000 km away

Yeah that's how I charge my solar powered batteries, works great.
