The rocks have always spawned. I've got a few on my Mars planet nearby. When I log on tonight I'll check them for ore.

Yes it is large rocks sitting on the surface of planets.

anyone knwos if we have to start a new planet world for those rocks to spawn?
SpannerMonkey Dec 10, 2015 @ 1:36pm
Hey , don't think a new start is needed i have several iron bearing rocks within a short distance of the base, restarted last night after destroying the area around the base with mining experiments.
Sadly they just look like any other rock, just checked again, found a rock containing silicone not far away.

Ps they show up in toolbox as asteroids, and in creative mode they can be ctrl X deleted

Seen them on my existing save. Don't know if they're in the same places or not, (Tree spawning changed) But all the rocks I've looked at have something in them. Should make for an easier start finding a little bit of most ores easier.

Meh. I never understood not being able to find ore. Just look harder. Dont see any point in adding more to the game or making it easier to find.

My existing save didn't have very many rocks in the area, Mars, so I was familiar with them since I had to pass 2 promenant ones to my mine. Those rocks are now gone and there are many more rocks than before. Took a quick look at 2, 1 had iron, the other silicon.
