Each container has a limit, what it can hold.
Large conveyors are large, whereas small tubes are kind of small. :P
You drag the item into your ship but it remain in same container?
Or is the target greyed out as soon you try to drag the item?
I just placed conveyor blocks behind the cargo containers on the ship and now it works.
I also noticed that some of the larger components can't move through some systems. I'm still not sure what was going on, but I made 1 large cargo hold instead of 2 small ones on my station and streamlined the conveyor straight to the connector I needed and it's all good now.
TL:DR; watch for bottlenecks.
