Mars Monolith
"A GREAT RACE HAS LIVED ON THIS PLANET. NOW THEY LIVE IN THE STARS."
I did not discover this, nor did I translate the text on it. but there it is, that's what it says.

So Keen has finally dived headlong into unrealism, Junk Drive, Sabiroids, and now this. (I am excluding my smaller more "nit-picky" realism complaints) can we finally start the next big Steam Early Access "promise's have been way too broken" refund landslide? this is so far past "NASA Technology extrapolated 60 years into the future" that it is not even funny, and not acceptable to me, I've been with this game roughly 2 years now, and this is total BS. but what does Keen care? they already have my money.

Realism Store Page Description (for those too lazy): http://imgur.com/k3CJTNd

Notice that part near the bottom that say "Planets and Moons - Inspired by REAL celestial objects (Earth, Mars, ALIEN (?!?!), Moon, Europa, Titan).

I have created a petition for all interested parties to sign, let's get Valve to give us some real attention here: https://www.ipetitions.com/petition/SpaceEngineersNotRealNoMore

Previously refunded Early Access titles include:
Earth: Year 2066
The War Z
Windborne (the company could not afford refunds on this one, instead gave every owner five additional gift copies, as well as 3 copies each of 2 different defense grid titles)
Journey of the Light
The Stomping Land
Godus

It could be an easter egg nodding towards a book...

As for the refund landslide, Valve don't give two ♥♥♥♥♥, Early Access protects against so much that developers truly can take the piss..

imho many ppl wanted some sort of ai to combat so they gave them pirates and those aliens - imho thats ok - dont want them dont use the settings with them - you have a choice use it :) i prefer the game to have as many options as possible so many ppl could adjsut it to the way they want to play it and from what i saw keen is doing it ok in that regard and as for jump drives - well imho they are not needed - but due to unlimieted universe they were kinda needed/usefull - but again dont want them dont use them ;]

Invalid argument for so many reasons but first and foremostly: You're wrong, they're not optional. The Aliens are not a toggable option. Also it seems you missed the entire point of the thread.

Also people demanding AI ♥♥♥♥ to shoot could have been answered with AI human enemies.

I have edited my original post Kamoba, if you google the titles at the end, you will see that occasionally Valve does indeed, give a sheet about EA titles.

For what it may be worth, I will be completely willing to cede my argument, if Marek Rosa gets off his duff and removes these aspects of the game, fixes the realism, and makes his dev team stick to it. Because I truly do want at least one space game focused on reality, no lasers, no aliens, no teleporty warp drive, no artificial gravity, etc..., etc...

First, as fo AI enemies? the pirate drones are acceptable and quite enough, and apparently even you can see that the Junk Drive is unnecessary, they said planets would be so far away to need it, and now the planets are not. but yes, as Kamoba said, the specifics of implementation are not at issue here, the existence period of the problem areas is.

Bump.

Really? I thought the monolith was just a nice little easter egg and tribute to the sci fi genre, not a statement of developmental policy...

I don't mind the monolith as it isn't a game mechanic. By definition easter eggs can be out-of-place jokes or references.

But everything else is pretty much bs.

Consider this, it is purely decorative, and he did say purely decorative things would never happen.

Depends. If you want non-earth like planets, with anything that isnt a rock, that means some kind of weird looking life. Plants or animals, whatever. There is a reason that there are hundreds of thousands of species of insect and only one platypus..... its a very simple and rugged design, that works across numerous environments. If we ever do find life out there, id be willing to bet theres more chance of it being insectile than any other body plan. The jumpdrives are a bit sci fi....but all it really does if you arentin multiplayer is accellerate you through several hours of watching the screen in a moment, which I quite like. Planets are fun, and make for a much more challenging start. You have to get out into space before you can even do all the cool zero g stuff. So far theres nothing in the game that makes me regred my choice to buy. Nothing too outlandish, anyway.

Nothing thats purely decorative? You mean like skyboxes and deer icons and new body models and the pretty doors?

But it's not a game mechanic like customizable hats or anything like that. You can't even compare it to the structural pylon we have in the game.

Easter eggs are easter eggs.

Or this; it is yet another non-core unasked for DX11 model release, when in the entire year of DX11 support being out, we have had less than ten block model upgrades. I do not inherently object to easter eggs; however, these should be reserved for, oh I don't know, post bug fixing, post-release (or just prior to?) glad to see they hired new modelers for the much needed central aspects of the game.

No argument there.

Just because those arguments dont fit exactly to your own agenda does not make them invalid mate - you dont want to play with bugs - well you dont have to - aka dont land on planets :L (but imho they should have been as a selectable option like pirates are and this i do consider an oversight on keens part) so as you can see - you DO have a choice - just its not the perfect one for you :L i would love to play with those bugs (atm to weak graphic card aka no dx11) so i for one say they should stay in the game - who is right - me/you ? i would say me cuz it enriches the game 4 me with additional aspects - if you disagree then thats your perogative mate but it doesnt mean the devs should dumb the game or cut content - if anything they should make it optional (and most of such things are optional either via menu or by your own playstyle) your habbits or iflexibility are no excuse to cut stuff away from the game 4 the rest of the ppl just because YOU think they dont fit - very easly (demonstrated by me) other ppl will say that they should stay because they enjoy them and thats their perogative too. Cheers
