Help with Piston/Blast Doors
Hey, some help please - I have got my blast doors the same as of "Custom World - Easy Start 2" I copied the exact same design but still I can not get the doors moving. I have got the pistons in sync fine, but they are not moving or pulling the blast door to close/open position.

Its like the pistons will not grab the blocks (blast doors) to slide them open or closed.

Anyone can help me? thanks.

assuming that the pistons are not really attached to the door, in a two piston door design only one will be attached. What you have to do is stat a line on one, then do the same with the other leaving a gap large enough for a merge block to fit into then merge them together. Then you can build the rest of the door. .Also, it is possible that the piston heads have broken somehow along the way and as such are not doing anything.

Is there a guide on such, like a video to better represent it? I seen something about a merge block but following that still couldn't get it to work. What you saying is I need to build the door all from one side, with a merge block somewhere in between, then what I found out was you then later can/need to remove the merge block and carry on with the build. The piston heads are not broke, this isnt the problem, just this thing is being bloody stubborn haha. :)

idk names of particular videos, but a search on youtube should find it. Here is a small bs graphic to illustrate what I am talking about:

___= mounting point for pistons (prebuilt wall or w/e)

P=Pistons

--------- = line of blocks for door

m = Merge block

P P
----------m m-------------

Sometimes you may find that for whatever reason you cannot place the second merge block. If this should happen you make the same setup, but add a rotor in there somewhere with the intentions of removing it. This will let you adjust the spacing using the rotor's displacement option. Or, you can just play around with the retraction on one piston until you can place it, then lower it back into place. Note, that on occassion this may cause it to either just hang up and do nothing, or, rarer, explode. So save just in case.

When you are done, you should be able to place blocks wherever you need to in order to make a full door. When you have, just delete the merge blocks and rotor and replace them with blast door sections.

Ok, to show what ive done so far:

Then here is a view using the merge blocks like you said but still, not working: http://i.imgur.com/YBELVnz.jpg?1

Its very confusing this, hope you can get the picture from what im saying above. If not, open up the "Custom World - Easy Start 2" and see how they have made the blast doors, its the same way ive done mine but for some reason, they are not working as normal :(

k, first I wanna say my bad. I had incorrectly assumed these went up and down, so I had thought you were trying to get two pistons to work together to open the door.

Are you beginning the build the PISTON, or on the floor? If it is the latter, then that is the problem. It sorta looks like that is what you are doing. A block is not attached to a piston unless building begins there. You have to start by attaching the blast door block directly to the piston head. Then it will stick.

Weeeeeeeeee.... and again you have helped me!

Its working fine, what confused me was that I didn't know you can attach a block to the end of the piston, reason being is its RED! meaning its bot placeable, BUT if you actually persist and try in positions it finally locks on to green and you can place the block.

That was my problem. All fixed now and working great.

Thanks mate :)

lol, np. This is, when you try to hit just the head you are likely hitting the longer part of the piston instead. The hitbox is really small so it can be a bit tricky sometimes. Glad it worked finally.

Yea, if I know I knew that before though it would of saved me 2 days of searching how and trying to do, then here I got the simple answer I was looking for :steamhappy:

Often the simplest thing is overlooked. You'll get it all down soon enough though.
