Drills not drilling?
Anyone else found that now their drills don't drill as fast as before? It's a considerable difference from before the update, I'm going less than 1/2mps and still hitting rock. 6 drills on a small ship close enough to make a hole and they just suck, anyone else?

Yes me too. Dont know what happened. :( Even mod drills are slower.

Ditto. The drills get to a point where they get stuck. You have to back away, shut off the drill, turn the drill back on, and move foward again and then maybe it will work. It's very odd behavior. Pushing forward with maximum thrust has no effect at all once the drill gets stuck.

yea happens was observing this by driling asteroid and looking from the bottom to see where i get stuck.. there is an invisible wall that is at least a whole large block apart from my ship and asteroid every time... unless i stop drilling for 10s or more it wont go away so mining few metters has become a pain in the ass... before i could go trough giant asteroid in 5min tops now to get my ship full way inside an asteroid it takes 10 to 20min... so mining all the way is not gone happen till a new fix comes out

Same. Got a ship with the mexpex heavy mining drill and prior to the patch I could line myself up with the ore, put on a little thrust, turn off inertia dampeners and just watch get all the ore in my vessel. Now, I can't even mine 2m without bumping into something solid.

Yeah that's the only solution I've got so far, maybe they're affecting the way drills work on planets and that's effected drills working on astroids, then again maybe it's just a bug. drilling by hand works fine though so I do suspect it's a problem with ship drills.

Same to me,hope the devs fix this, and i have very heavy lags if i drill and the sim speed drops down, im on a server in multiplayer

The ship slow down isn't limited to mining roids either. I'm tring to dock with a mobile drop off/proccesser with a semi internal docking bay and the mining ship will get 'stuck' on basicly nothing. There's no moving parts on either ship either so I don't know what happened to the code to start this noncence. This started about 2-3 updates ago and has made mining and docking near impossible for me.
Something tells me this is closely linked to the mining ships slowing to a crawl or getting stuck in the asteroids.

Just asking round, have you guys found that your ship basicly stops being able to move at all unless you wriggle out of whatever is holding your ship in place like I have?

Yeah that's to do with how the mass works now, your cargo holds mass inside the containers, so the more your holding the slower you'll accelerate. wiggling the ship is actually a normal thing to do (now) to get moving. It's like skateboarders can get moving without pushing by wiggling their boards side to side.

Could this be happening with grinders too? I built a grinder platform and I find it very hard to push ships into it. Often they just stop on the grinders and nothing grinds. I back up, tilt my ship a little, then push it again... very slow annoying process.

Maybe, I stopped playing survival after I found out I couldn't mine... Send in bug reports because I haven't seen many threads with this problem so it might not be a widespread issue.

Still not fixed : (
Drills are still derpy and only 'pulse' every 3 sec or so, between that they rotate but don't do anything at all.
Affects both modes, mining and tunneling.

The reason why it's not fixed, is because it's not a bug. Drills are working that way now, as annoying as it may be.

Worst improvement ever...

So really, is that how they wanna make mining be now?
With that terrain alteration rate I might aswell drill by crashing ships into the surface.
Before this did I honestly enjoy drilling away because it worked smoothly, but if this is how it's gonna be then I might aswell forget about it.

Yeah.. this issue makes mining on ships (large or small) a nightmare. If thats intentional, that only furthers the gap between KSH and its customer's.
I cant even mine more than 45 seconds with out busting the drills completely off my ship, I guess flying drilling ships are out of the question now.

Space mining is much slower now as I notice it keeps pushing me back, I think its the debre they got larger collision boxes or something now. I wish there wasn't even any debre when your drilling, not unless your drills get full.
