Turning wheels
Hello

Is anyone else having issues with wheels turning? They seem to make my car bounce alot and stop at times. Ive tried to tune the settings but with bad results. Is there something i aint aware of?

I believe that happens because your sheels lack the clearence suring the turning and may be getting stuck on your vehicle if your wheels are covered. It used to happen to me until I made a little more space for the wheels to turn.

Tune your suspension lower, don't forget artificial mass near each wheel to help stabalise the whole car... Screenshots would help too incase of the above mentioned problem.

This is what being an engineer is all about, you need to tweak your design and your wheel settings until it works.

thanks for the responses, it used to run pretty smooth until last patch and if i recall right it tweaked the wheel settings.

Keep the suspension at lowest height setting. Give it 20-40% travel to allow a little movement, strenght must be set in accordance to the car's weight. More weight -> more strenght.

Reduce steering radius if it seems the wheel bumps into the frame of the car when you turn.

Reduce steering speed and return speed if the car seems to lose control/rolling over when turning.

Reduce friction, actually setting friction to 0% makes it so your car drifts instead of rolling over. Which is usually better. With zero friction you can also use gyros to help turning.

All wheels that don't steer must be at Zero friction, else your car will keep bouncing when trying to turn.

Edit: The heavier the car, the better. Lightweight car, or low gravity will make the car float and jump and bounce and roll over. You don't want that. The car must be 'glued' to the ground at all times, to acomplish this:

1) Natural gravity: Make the car heavy. Use heavy armor and keep the center of mass close to the ground.

2) Artificial Gravity: Place a great amount of mass blocks close to the ground.

3) Low gravity: Use upward thrusters to "press" the vehicle against the ground. Use thrust override.

yeah, they messed up something, or they made it more technical now. Like you have to tweak it depending on the weight of the vehicle? nah, is probably bugged :s

the shaking stopped as soon as i added extra tires on top of the old ones so now i have dual tires on each wheel.
