Claiming Prototech Items

So ive recently been gathering some of the prototech items, and i finally came across the drill. There isnt any way to claim it, and the blue hack line is down so low that i can tell if i try to hack it im gunna lose parts. is there another way around this? no option to claim grid on the top right.

Repair it up a little before grinding it down so you don't loose parts?

pay more attention to the components on the right side as you grind, the hack line is between the computers and the Prototech panels, before the metal grids, so not as much of a worry as you might think.

On the drill the hack line was well below 2 of the parts that were red, but i saved it and did a test and was fine as long as you go right to the line and not past it

...and always use the lowest level grinder tool when hacking. The more advanced ones are a bit too greedy!

Hi, just the component named "Frame" is not craftable and Prototech components can be found in Planetary stations and Factorum stations in space.

Less building problems when we find the Prototech assembler made to do Prototech components only.

I mostly agree with this. If you're really careful, you can use an elite grinder, but with the default one being much slower, it'll give you a bigger margin of error when hacking the prototech blocks.

You could also use a hacking computer mod (I use one in my live stream playthrough). Just be aware that it may not get everything - I usually still have a few blocks left that I have to hack the old-fashioned way.

Oh, and to add to what Dan2D3D said above, when you get the prototech assembler, you'll notice that you need prototech scrap to make the various components, which can't be crafted. Only way I've found to get it is from grinding down prototech blocks.
