Prototech Questions [potential spoilers]

I nabbed myself a Prototech Assembler, so does that mean I can make any and all Prototech blocks now? Or is this specifically for fixing damaged blocks already in my possession? In other words, what are the limitations of this assembler? I haven't connected it into my base yet, and since it'll take some finagling, I want to make sure it'll be worth it before I bother.

Next question - do Prototech Jump Drives daisy-chain with regular jump drives? Or do you need to replace all your jump drives with Prototech Drives to get this additive effect?

Last question - does Prototech come with downsides? For example, if I go through the trouble of replacing regular gyroscopes with Prototech, will the latter draw more power or add more weight or come at some other cost? Or is it only positives, no negatives?

I wasn't going to bother with Prototech, but I came across an abandoned base that had some, so I figured I'd look into it after all.

Did you claim the grid? They wont merge if you dont claim the grid the prototech is on.

We must find a way to access the station Terminal and click the "Claim" button to remove the deletion Timer first.

I find an accessible container with loot in and click the Claim button in top right corner :

Weld a simple access panel on the side of prototech block. Claim that grid in the menu, in the right top corner, it's red. Now this loot don't dissapear. Also make sure that your garbage removal option dosn't delete this grid. So simply have a small tug ship parked to prototech block, grind all unnesessary blocks attached to prototech block, then weild access panel and claim grid.
