Encounter Amount Setting?
I know what the Global Encounter Cap setting does and I know what the Enable Planetary Encounters checkbox does but what exactly does the Encounter Amount dropdown list do? Does it change planetary encounters? Random encounters? Global encounters? Finger counters? Over the counters? How many players can count the counters? Counters? Help.

I think it is for new Factorum encounters. If 0, you will not able to meet them and have their tech. 1 means only 1 active encounter at time. 2 I think means 2 active encounters.

Hi, in my opinion it is for all encounters because that option can be setup on creating a new world only.

We can read on mouse over :

"Sets the density of procedurally generated encounters"

All the other encounter options can be changed anytime we want :

- Global Encounter Cap
- Enable Drones
- Enable planetary encounters
- The animals count slider and Wolves/Spiders ON/OFF.

That's not the setting I'm referring to.

I saw that which brought me here because I'm not sure what it means exactly by "procedurally generated encounters"? That is too vague to be helpful and could mean almost anything. Does it mean cargo ships? Drones? Planetary encounters? Stations? Wrecks? Derelicts? Pirates? Factorum spawns?
Which ones of these specifically does this setting affect and by how much?
If I set to max will I see more cargo ships? Will I see more derelicts? Will I see more pirate stuff? Etc etc.

Best would be to ask the ones working on the game to be sure, we can do so from the Official SE Support Portal or when they go live streaming every weeks.

IMO = All encounters that spawn in the world.

+
The only thing I have noticed so far = there are way way less Trade stations (economy option) when I set the Encounter Amount at Maximum.

Thank you. I submitted a ticket and will update the thread with any additional information they might provide.

Here is the answer I got from them.
"The random Encounter density settings currently only affects the encounters spawned in space. Not cargo ships.

Before the v205 update, the density of the encounters was based on the density of asteroid spawning."
ParGellen Nov 11, 2024 @ 6:21am
Got another update since that one wasn't really clear.
"So to clarity the "Encounter" system, there are:

Global encounters. Up to 2 (depending on settings) that spawn randomly in space or near planets, emit global signals.
Cargo ships: Spawn around players occasionally. These move from point A to B before they de-spawn.
Space Encounters. These can be found anywhere in space in persistent locations.
Planetary encounters, similar to how cargo ships work but spawn near the player on planets. Though they can't spawn near other static structures.
Drones: These are ships and drones that spawn when a player moves or resides inside the broadcasting radius of hostile antenna's (red signals) that are tagged to spawn specific ships/drones.

Settings for all of those categories can be individually configured and enabled/disabled in world settings."

The "Space Encounters" part was highlighted in bold so I am guessing that is the one that this setting applies to specifically.

Good to know!

The only "Problem" I have in the new game version is that they changed the economy feature, the Trade stations are now rare.

There was 15 trade stations spawning on and around Moons when creating a world from scratch and now nothing spawn when I create my scenario with the wold named "Empty".
+
Same in premade planet worlds, there was a minimum of 4 Trade station per Moon and now nothing to one Trade station can spawn on all Moons.

I've noticed this as well. I got a GPS pad thing when I started a new world Friday that pointed me to a trade station on the Earthlike planet and I went there but most of it was underground and inaccessible. I flew around a very long time looking for another one but never found anything whereas before the last update they were fairly common.

Yes, and looks like we will have to buy Data Pads with Trade station GPS coords when we find a Trade Station.

OR
Kill our character to return to Respawn screen to take the Data Pad that comes with the respawn ship.

Oh now there's a trick I didn't think about! :D
