Is there any way to have sensors detect further in vanilla?
I'm trying to make an enemy detector radar kind of thing for my ship so I can have it make a sound with an audio block to let me know when enemy is within 800m to my ship after being in a situation of having small drones attacking my ship with me being completely oblivious to it until I started seeing tons of scrap metal bouncing off my ships cockpit window.

So far I made a rotor with a bunch of sensors on it with two of the sensors being on a hinge so they sweep back and forth every few seconds, and then this is all rotating as well, then I learned sensors can only detect 50m which is smaller than my carrier ship... only took me a few hundred hours to learn this *headbutts desk*

I am in vanilla, I play singleplayer using realistic audio, please don't suggest a mod, just trying to do everything vanilla.

If it can't be done then that sucks, if that is the case KeenSWH needs to up the maximum limit of sensor range to be that of turrets.

Thank you for attempting to help but this really is not helpful at all...

Short answer no....

Longer answer, while sensors cant be made larger, camera raycasting is a thing in vanilla. Im not experienced with it so you would have to go look up tutorials. But with it and scripting you "cast rays" from cameras that can have near infinite range. Then with scripting they can report back on what they hit, and i think trigger things (like a sensor+timer block) based on what they hit.

Anyways i havent used them myself so its kinda like the blind leading the blind here, Seen people make radar with rotors cameras and raycasting, so it sounds like something thats defo an option :)

This is certainly more helpful than the previous comment of suggesting exactly what I asked I wasn't looking for xD

Something for me to look into that's for sure :>

Had a very quick look on the workshop but didnt see a full 360 radar array... they do exist though.

Did find this which may be a better intro to raycasting. It just sends one out where you are pointing, and reports the GPS coords of any ship it hits :)
