Small ship drill mod w/drill-sized radius?
I'm trying to build a terrestrial miner that will just gobble up surface boulders whole, leaving flat ground where they were. Think bulldozer, but instead of the earthmover blade on the front, a wall of drills.

Problem is, the vanilla small ship drills have a gigantic area of effect compared to their size. It's tough to make a wall out of them with a flat AOE.

Does anyone know of any small ship drill mods that behave like the large ship drills? That is to say, a single drill will only make a single-drill-wide hole?

i dont know but most of my terrastrial miners are large ships. The biggest reason is that small pistons breaks to fast. I have made a large drill tower that can reach 75m in the ground and make shafts big enough for my smaller miner ship to go down. I will join in here to see if someone finds a mod adding that soft of drill you talk about. I have some stuff i could need it for

That is a nice one :) have used it for it's conveyor tubes but have not tested other drills than the thin one

I know of a two that I've used before.

My first recommendation is this one, regular sized drills but the effective radius is drastically increased.

This next one does the same thing, except it's only in a small drill form, and it's effective radius is obcene, you're gonna get more stone than anything else using this with a slight hiccup as the game processes the giant chunk you're about to eat. Right click function is going to lag your game for a few moments and it is absolutely not recommended that you use it for any reason because you're probably gonna destroy whatever it was you wanted to get.

I absolutely appreciate the time you spent to bring me these, but I was asking for the exact opposite thing. ^_^;

My whole problem is that the drill radius even on the vanilla drills is just too big.

I don't think I've seen any mods that have a more condensed effective radius. I completely misunderstood what you were asking for, my apologies.

No worries! The machine I'm building is kinda weird anyway.

I found one that works, if not perfectly, called the micro-drill.

My machine does its job. I'll upload pics tonight.

so if you want to create a "flat" spot .. behind (in between the ship and the drill wall) have a single row of drills pointing downward so that is flattens as it removes ... you could essentially layout roads with this set up as well.

edit:typo
