I want to know as well, so I can load up "Star System" and delete the Alien Planet, I mean, I /could/ load up an empty map and paste in Earth and Mars, or load up Habitable Planet and Paste in Mars...But then there are asteroids inside it's atmosphere and just sort of stuck into the planet and crap, which is stupid, and if you open a blank map to do it, then you get no asteroids, when it should be as simple as "point at planet, Ctrl+X, planet goes away" you know, with like, almost everything else? (except some asteroids, I'll never understand, half of the procedurals will let you delete them, and randomly others won't?)

*EDIT* ---> so much for the "choice" to not play with the alien planet eh?

I see why the game doesn't remove the planets with Cntl+X, and I think that's a good thing, because any miss-aiming when point at ship wreckage etc would delete it. It is a shame that SE Tool Box isn't going to continue.

I have not done it, but I would say that we'll have to use the actual world files to go in and delete planets at certain coords. Hopefully someone else, (Keen maybe) would expand the Alt+F10 to be able to not only spawn planets also remove them.

Good luck!

Ctrl+X always asks you, while showing the hitbox of selected item, it's a complex game and it shouldn't be holding your hand beyond asking you "Are you sure??" anyone who "accidentally" deleted their planet could A) reload ( bad idea to have autosave period no matter what anyway) OR slow down a second and LOOK at what the game is asking them to delete.

Yes, but the ONLY way you know WHAT is going to be deleted is by looking at the bounding box as it highlights, sometimes which is obscured by the question window, other debris, or is too large to fit on your screen, etc. I think the main reason you can't delete a planet is that the center location is 60km away at the center of the planet... and you can't aim at that in the game.

Probably, if not the manuel editing of the world file, then a update to the SpaceMaster mode would be our best hope to deal with removing planets.

in the case of not seeing the bounding box, simple logic would tell anyone that the thing they are aiming at has not been selected. but yes, this would also be great as an addition to spacemaster, I was just wondering myself if it did that, but your response that it should be added makes me think you have checked and it is not there.

Do you know where I can find the file that would have the information and what information I would need to change?
NightOwlModeler Jan 20, 2016 @ 2:03am
Well, it would be nice if it would be one of the search options "look at planets" like you can look at Grids. Yes, I agree with you that a player **Should** be careful when deleting things.... haha, I see you've played 1400+ hours, I've played over 3000 hours... I am generally careful, however there have been times I've seen myself about to delete an asteroid by mistake. or a ship I wanted and for whatever reason wasn't able to paste it back in, etc. An "Undo Last" would be VERY nice to have as it seems your computer or DS/Host should have a record of what was just removed. (maybe a 60 second cashe file of deleted objects!)

I hear you when you say "You should be more careful"... however in game play and the way things go, we are human and we make mistakes... it would be nice if Keen would give us a few more tools to undo our blunders. :P

It would be in the SE files, a few folders over from your blueprints...
C:\Users\"Owner"\AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves\
Replace "Owner" with whatever your computer is called... these are hidden files. I create a shortcut to my BP area so I can access the files quickly.

Right I know how to get to that above point and then to the specific world I want to edit but I don't know which of the files inside the world folder have what I want to edit or which what I'm looking for inside those files. is it the Sandbox.SBC file or one of the multiple things that say Earthlike or something else?

I heard yesterday that Sandbox.sbc is now encrypted, so hope it ain't in there.

I just edited the sandbox.sbc file of one of my worlds earlier today so at least as of then it wasn't.

Thanks for the help guys. I was able to remove the planet I wanted to by deleting the Earthlike vx2 files in the folder for that world

Well, good to know BML... glad to be somewhat helpful. I also liked SE toolbox's way of being able to move the planets VERY far apart.... like 20,000 km so that it actually takes jump engines to go between them, unless you want to play stellar roluette with your ship at max speed for 45 hours dodging asteroids that spawn in with about 30 seconds warning before you go splat! :P Suddenly I see how the Crashed Red ship could be plausible.. lol..
Well happy engineering to you all,

Yeah I heard it was nice stinks I find out about it and the next day he says he will no longer be working on it! Also that feature sounds like a nice one for creating a solar sytem type world
