Remove stone automatically. Easy. Very easy.
How many of you got tired of manually disposing insane amounts of stone?!?! Be afraid no more, young engineer, as here you have the key to delegate such annoying task in the machines...

It is as easy as having a Ejector (Collector if in a big ship or station) with 'Collect All' and 'Drop Out' settings switched on.
Just between that Ejector/Collector and the rest of your system (drills, refinery, etc.), set a Conveyor Sorter with a Whitelist. Add only stone to that filter. That way the Ejector/Collector will try to get everything but the Sorter will let pass just the stones.

If you don't want to pollute the system with the stone: Do a T system where the log part of the T are the drills, one small arm is the described stone ejector mechanism and the other small arm of the T is the rest of your system (refinery, etc), but add a Sorter with the stone blacklisted between the T and the refinery.

Pretty easy, isn't? Can't understand why people say that is not possible... It is just slow (0.1k at a time), but it is automatic!

Or just grind down a container? Or does that not work anymore?

Brilliance!!!!!

Modifiications will commence immediately.

Why dispose of stone? Store it somewhere as gravity cannon ammo. OR put it into an assembler using magic and there it is, stone turned into uranium.

Who said this isn't possible? Most of us have been doing this the same day sorters came out.

Ever wonder how much valuable ore you're missing out on due to heavy drilling and leaving behind all those pretty little voxel balls? This is why I hand drill... takes longer but no waist! (based on my planet side experiences)

You can also engineer mining ships to better collect loose ores as well. Though I doubt that works very well on Planets given how buggy mining on a planet tends to be.

Also for some reason I remember not needing sorters to expel stone from ejectors (Maybe because Ore doesn't fit through the smaller parts or something?) I also thought connectors had an option to expel only stone or something that enabled you to do so without the use of a sorter.

That, or I just manually dumped all ore using sorters and then just dumped all of my cargo later knowing I only had stone left in the ship... that is very possible.

And now your space is full of small rocks to lag your game and generally be a nuisance.

The game limits how many objects you can have floating around, after you reach that limit it just begins deleting the oldest rocks. You can adjust that setting based on your need for performance.

I've never had a problem with just dumping them out into empty space. They'll fly out of visual distance and just stop existing after a time.

Who cares how much is wasted. It's infinite universe I'll just find another rock instead of doing something more akin to punishment. Plenty to be had.

Engineers dont waste anything. Instead why not make missiles with a cargo bin full of rocks as the warhead. They are quite effective.

if you put all the ore in one place your ship will tilt
Tigerhawk71 Jan 15, 2016 @ 3:24pm
reasons to not use an ejector:

1: it's slow
2: stone projectiles can damage your ship
3: right-click drilling will increase the radius and not collect stone (or anything) - meaning with a bit of care, you can drill through a layer of stone or a hole in a planet surface and expose pure resources without picking up 500k of fkn stone. :3
4: Ejectors are far too slow to be useful

if you have the gravel resource extractor mod all the stone is anoying but is mute because the stone gets turned to gravel then the gravel gets turned in to all resources and because of it i also use a mod engien that i use in atmo and space producing more thrust then vinilla while using less power but requiers more platinum then vanilla

Thx for this Idea, if you put a grav generator next to the "exhaust" you can make them stones fly away from your ship and in theory weaponize the system to haul stuff at fixed targets.
