Got any Small ship designs capable of leaving earth?
I've put 31 hours into this game and I still can not make a small ship that can leave earth's gravity. The closest I came was g0.16 and then I ran out of hydrogen and started falling... :steamsad:

Maybe and extra hydrogen tank on your ship?

Yeah thats probably what I'll end up doing. it'll probably look kinda weird but oh well lol

Yeah,I used a ship speed mod to leave the planet as it takes forever, that might conserve fuel

You are probably burning all your fuel because you are constantly firing your thrusters.

It's actually very easy to build a small ship which is capable of reaching orbit. Just get some large hydrogen tanks and a few large thrusters. The key to success however is not to accelerate constantly. The game caps your speed at 100m/s and firing your thrusters once you reach that speed is a waste of fuel. So just accelerate until you reach 100 m/s then stop firing thrusters until you reach 90 m/s again and so on.

If you manage your thrusters properly, you should have no trouble at all reaching orbit.

If u use speed mod i recomend "atmospheric drag mod"+ "500m/s" - this way you are not cheating and it adds more depth to the way u designe ship for atmospheric landing and departure ......cause u now .... too mutch drag and u burn like a sausage on a desert stone. Too little drag and on reentry u will use too mutch fuel just to slow down ....or will burn ...like u know what.

its supper awesome mod.

Battery powered (a few emergency reactors), Ion/Atmo thrust only, no hydrogen, everything you need.

Also, can leave orbit without "stuttering" the thrusters, hold down the W key all you want.

Make and load up on hydrogen canisters. You can get to space with just extra hydrogen canister loaded up in storages.

not in realistic inventory size, not if you wanna live.

U need 4 - 5 hydrogentanks and small hydrogenthrusters. that is it. ^^

Use atmo thruster till about 4500m then ignite hydro, dont shut off atmo thrusters till around 8000-9000m as they do still provide a small amout of thrust, use thrust overrides on your main hydro thruster(s) to keep you around 90-100 m/s (you will be at like 10% thrust near 25km)

My orbital ship weighs around 100,000kg uses 6 hydro tanks and 2 large hydro thrusters and can lift around 50,000kg of cargo

With that you can leave the Earth:

At 5000m u need to use hydrothrusters.
