I need help with rotors!!!
Ive been trying to set up a ship with rotors on the 4 sides of my ship. The problem is that everytime ive been doing it I toggle it and they go in the wrong direction. Basically 1 side does what I want it to and the other goes in the opposite direction. Any suggestions? I have done grouping but I dont know how to assign the same item to two different groups.

Havent put much effort into this. I simply setup one side inverse of the other side like a mirror.

Ive tried that however Im not good with the grouping, how do I group the rotors so I can get two unique groups with one set of rotors

Hold on, I've seen a video of a guy doing a tutorial on VTOLs handling exactly this, lemme see if I can find it for you

Edit: Well that didn't take long

Sure. But keep in mind, rotors are still kind of... finicky in this game. Finicky as in they like to blow up if you're at full speed. It usually affects you a lot more with speed mods, but it can still happen at 100 m/s.

Edit: I just saw the "not good with grouping" comment. Ok, so when you group items, all it does in the control panel is choose them all at once. You can still set their properties individually by selecting the individual rotor instead of the group. However, if you just set the property from the group, it will change the properties for every rotor. So don't do that.

Hey, I have played around with rotors quite a bit, the best way I found to do it is name the rotors as you make them (Like 'Left Forward Rotor' or 'Right Rear Rotor') and group them all into the same group. After that, you can set the upper/lower limits individually so they rotate as far as you want then stop. To synchronize them, rotate them all the same direction (positive RPM for one side, negative RPM for the other side) and set the speed to equal absolute values (so -3 for one side, +3 for the other) and put the 'Reverse' option on your bar. The reverse will just switch the direction....so anything going +3 will switch to -3 and visa versa. That should make them all rotate the same direction at the same speed. I have used this multiple times on ships for variable direction thrusters or to exted/retract solar panels. Good luck, keep at it!

If your want your rotor to spin the other way you simply change the velocity. If its at 1.00 and spinning the wrong way, you just need to set the velocity to -1.00 Then you can group it with the other rotor and reverse on both.

As a side note, when setting the limits, bear in mind one side will be opposite the other. So if you want rotors to rotate through a 90deg angle, you need to set one side with upper limit 90 and lower limit 0, the other side with upper limit 0 lower limit -90. You will have to play around and find the right limits for what you want to do, just pointing out that they are inversely mirrored. Again, gool luck, have fun!

Success, I got it to work thank you all for helping me out!

Also, how would the controls work?

Group them together, put it on your hotbar as "reverse".

Oh I know that part I mean like using thrusters on them.

Would it adapt?

Nope. Thrusters, gyros, and wheels do not take WASD input from cockpits on the other side of a rotor or position.
