MWM files, How do I open them?
While looking in the folder for character models, I noticed they all are MWM files. I tried opening one in Blender, but all I saw was the cube that you start with whenever you open Blender. A user suggested I try some addons, but they have not done anything. I’ve checked and double checked to make sure I was installing the addon right, but still nothing. Do you guys know of a modeling program that reads the MWM file format?

Blender and Space Engineers
Hello, I am getting into mod making, and I’m wondering how difficult it would be to view the default player model in Blender. Is the model compatible with such program?

I too would like to know. I tried opening the file astronaut_model.mwm in blender, but all i saw was the same old cube that you always see when opening the program.

Blender should be able to view and model stuff for the game. Just have to know what file type the game uses.

the game uses MWM files. How do I get blender to read that?

Hi you really need to get a copy of the SpaceEngineersModSDK, that contains all the models in the native FBX format, there is i believe an exporter for mwm to use with blender, I use max so can't help there.
MWM files are produced by the builder app and contain a basic xml, the model. and its havok collision model

Not a clue, as i say , I use Max, but unless you are hacking into other premade mods messing around with the exporter seems like the hard way to get what you need. Just download the mod sdk its got the models ready to use, does blender import or export fbx ?

I'm not sure. I'm going into this knowing nothing about modding and modeling. If not, then maybe there is an addon that can let it do so.

You have to activate it under user preferences. Will most likely be under import-export.

I have a rigged astronaut in blender with the textures all set up. You can change the color of the suit by changing the color of a single diffuse node.

Yea, that should be it.
Blender now sees the files, but opening a MWM file makes Blender freez up. I command closed it after an hour.
