Here's my canon-hope dream. The factorum are a huge threat to our players, and there's another faction, the alien race that made the Monoliths and Steroliths that use a different technology. That left it behind for us to use.
I would not overhype this. Likely a few block additions followed by reskins and possibly a change in stats. Although, it sounds like a blast either way! I cannot wait to finally have a true test against my coalition.
They rely on technology and almost praise it like "Life of Brian" , also they a referred to by many races as 'Pin heads'. These little Green M Effers are chasing in the foot steps of ...... "The Ancients......" an advanced species that explored our galaxy, set up worm holes, got bored and ascended [a bit on the nose but the lead characters are worth it], the Ancients left monoliths and the Thoranin (Green M Effers) didn't.
So it could be a race to stop the Green M Effers and keep peace in the verse or to get hold of the Ancients and ask them why they left all there planet killing AI's awake and angry.
I hope someone else sees just how lucky I was to finish that series 4 weeks ago while I still remember it, and how it links to the glowing path of evidence I just laid down before you. Can I git an Eman.

As the world shifted from the Military Industrial Complex to the Aerospace Industrial Complex, those who made their money in defense were at a crossroads.
Some adapted to the times. They turned their intercontinental missiles into space ships, their swords into plowshares.
Some retired. They decided there were fates worse than watching your billions become millions.
But some fought against change, against Modularity. They fought unimpeded by morality, consequences be damned. They created a unique Prototech.
And they call themselves The Factorum.
1) This is a faction, so is likely just a faction like all the other factions. Nothing that new.
2) From the description, Factorum is a step backward if anything. The world shifted and people adapted and those that could not adapt became the Factorum.
3) This is Keen. Groundbreaking isn't their thing unless sometimes its the ground they are standing on. :)
