Vehicles Problems
The game is good, the problem is that everything you build, especially vehicles, explodes at the slightest hit, that is, they are anemic... totally! Maybe someone who develops this game will fix this bad joke. At first I liked the game, until I managed to use a vehicle... the next step... I uninstalled the game from Steam.

It's a you thing. If vehicles were constantly exploding, we wouldn't be playing.

+1
The source of that happening is either how you built the vehicle or how you're driving it.
Operator error. Not the game's fault.

Anemic, which is anemia, is a blood disorder where the body doesn't produce enough healthy blood red cells. Anemia does not cause spontaneous combustion.

Hi, I can tell it took me some time to become "Pro" with cars and can share the important.

First, I always find the "No Damage" value on my cars, that is wheel "Strength", I create a "jump ramp" and jump with my car to see if it will get damaged on landing and I just have to add more Strength till no damages at all on landing.

Also, best to find the wheel values in creative mode testing world so we can paste back in, I can tell I crash a few times before finding the best values.

Test Jump on Pertam for example :

A gyros helps a lot to reposition the car for a perfect landing (edited)

Note
Wheel Strength at Max is Not always the best solution because the car will bounce on landing. so we must find the proper value.

The only other "problem" is the total mass, heavy large block Rover need forward and backward thruster to help going up and down hill.

My Favorite got 3 forward thruster to help going up hill for example :

That said, never be shy to share your world save having your "not working" car concept here so all can load to help you find the stable working soltuion for your creation.

-> How to share a world save on the Workshop :

1 - Select your save.

2 - Click the "Publish" button on the left.

3 - Choose a proper Tag, check Steam upload and click the OK button.

4 - Your world will be uploaded to Steam Workshop.

5 - Paste the Workshop item link here.

I will add :

The "No Terrain Problem" Rovers are the ones made with large blocks using 5X5 wheels.

Small grid light armor is basically tin-foil. It's not protective, just aesthetic. That being said, if you crash your car at 5mph the body will still crumple because it's not designed to be sturdy enough to absorb impacts under it's own weight, even when moving at a crawl. IRL you can't get away with tiny collisions while driving and this game tries to be realistic when possible (yes, I know it's far from hyper real)

Small block cars are more challenging for sure, just finding the proper wheel steering angle value can take time.

For example :

Lower steering angle for the back wheels will do a bit bigger circles :

All wheels at default steering angle with 1-2 blocks of space gives smaller circle :

We must find the working solution and I can tell it may not be what we wanted to do first.

I'd really like suspensions to work better than they do, keeping all the wheels on the ground on rolling terrain better than they currently do instead of being as stiff as they are.

...probably I played another Space Engineer. I built a Rover and after a few meters, so to speak, it came apart and then exploded. It probably wasn't the right material...I think!

It's the same game, just don't keep the "not working setups", Redo different till solution found is the way.

+ Looking at the Workshop I can see some are way better than me at making stable cars.
Dan2D3D  [developer] May 7, 2024 @ 2:57pm
For example :

Here is one working solution I found by testing different setup :
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2985614565
The Solar panels can fold/unfold :
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2985615247
I did the needed Engineer testing in cretive mode, I found a working solution using rotors first and tried with hinges later.

2 Axis concepts are the best for trailer
Using Rotors :

I can tell a lot don't have problems with their creations (they are much better than me) but I also know there are "not working setups" and I usually find those first ;)

100 meters per second is 223 miles per hour. Pushing a rover/land vehicle at 25 mps is driving them at 56 miles per hour over rough uneven hilly cratered terran. Of course they're going to flip and explode at those speeds if the machine wasn't made for it.

My Favorite Rover also got piston elevator so I can up in when my Jetpack is empty :

The skin was created with small blocks first and made by a friend, I have reproduced his car shape using Large Blocks.

= It's my no problem Rover :)

It's wise to limit speed in the control panel for all wheels. 35 m/s seems to be the sweet spot to set it to that works decently everywhere.

One of my main game play loops is to circumnavigate planets. I get damage from time to time but its always my fault. Are you driving too fast? 100m/s is super fast for an of road vehicle!

also play with the wheel settings.

I drop strength down to almost nothing, the bare minimum to hold it up on level ground. and height to max clearance. Be sure to use left and right versions on the correct sides of your vehicle.. I have seen wheels powering the wrong way before.
I also reduce default steering angle.

Don't let wheels touch any blocks test steering and suspension. if they are close to touching anything even other wheels, bad things will happen.

I have in the past used program blocks to adjust strength dynamically and that worked quite well..

my mining rover script adjusts height to keep the drills level, and this works very well when adapted to my rovers. I've been testing on earth like and can scale all but the steepest cliffs.
