Custom turret drill right click not working
I put a custom mining turret on a rover but i can only left click with the drills, not right click. The only way for me to use the right click function is to just position my turret on the angle i want, then release the turret controls and use them from the toolbar. Really ackward.

you have it wrong in the toolbar, G menu and there under tools I think that's the name of the point. Under blocks or groups that are not then click right left

When i'm in the turret, i can't do any of that. i have to use the cockpit for those functions because the turret literally grays out anything drill related. but then i obviously can no longer control the turret with my mouse. which is 'very' inconvenient.

Not sure if this will help...

While in control of the turret, access the g menu, block tools and try adding the drill from there.

Never really used drills on a custom turret...

Nah, it seems it simply isn't coded. not even whiplash's TCES script that is meant to enhance the custom turret controller functionality seems to be able to do anything about it. Rovers saw some love over the years but it seems mining rovers are still weak sauce

Hi, Block tool left click to collect ores and right click to disintegrate soil is working only from a cockpit placed on the same grid where the Drill blocks are.

I have a rover with a Custom Turret Controller drill on it. Rotor first, then Hinge when you build the drill structure. Group the drills if you have multiple. Then from the cockpit press G, go to Block Tools, and double click or drag and drop the drill group to the toolbar where you want it.

Then go to All blocks and place "Control" for the custom controller in a toolbar action slot.

Now it's set up.
When you want to use it press the button you placed the Block Tools drills in to activate it, then press the button you placed the 'Control' option for the Turret Controller in.
Now you can left or right click and control the drill.

Moving the drill throws the rover around. It helps to set the parking brake before controlling the drill(s). That helps keep it from being thrown around while mining. I also have pistons on my rover that does this. One piston extends and retracts the mining arm so I can mine a larger area, another piston has a magnet on it that I extend to the ground surface while mining to keep the rover in place while using the drill.

I made sure to double check if it was all set up correctly, but it seems the game just ignores that and the drills on the toolbar turn grey.

Do you perhaps have a blueprint? that might be interesting.

The entire toolbar grays out or just the Drill slot? If it's just the drill slot that means it's either active (on) / disabled (off). And do you happen to also be running Build Info? The reason I ask about build info is because by default that mod disables helpful text that appears in the toolbar action slots that tells us whether each item in each slot is on/off, enabled/disabled, charging/recharging/discharging (batteries), etc.

We have to dig through Build Info's settings to disable some of that mod's features to display that text.

I haven't yet because I'm not finished / satisfied with how I want everything for it set up. I'm setting up a workshop page for it now. I'll share it when I have the workshop page completed.

I haven't published it yet because I'm still tweaking it so I'm satisfied with it, and it's got rotors and hinges and pistons on it which are sub-grids that won't print if we're not using the Multigrid Projector mod or Plugin. And some of the things I have on it are mods.

I'll post it, and it's attachments I made for it the next time I play. I made 2 different drill attachments for it, a weapon attachment, a grinder attachment, a welder attachment, and an attachment that's a piston with a magnet on it so I can grab and haul things.

No, i do not use build info precisely for it's limitations lol.
And no, they aren't really off since that's their default state. You have to press something or use a button to turn them on. i am able to just left click while i'm in turret mode, but the turret mode itself does gray out the drills on the hotbar.

Apologies, This is why it's doing that. Took me a while to get the gears upstairs (thoughts straight) to remember this: When we use a drill with a turret controller we have to set the drill up as a tool/weapon in the turret controller. We're only able to left-click drill because that's all the Turret Controller is coded to understand.

That would require a script to enable right-click drilling through a turret controller.
There's several talented script writers in the community. I'll DM this topic to one of them, hopefully it is possible and they'll help.

Or you can go to my workshop page. I just published it so it's the first link there.

Ah so the turret isn't programmed for it, makes sense. and nice rover :)
Yeah it's the turret controller that's not capable of right-click drilling. At least I think, and that makes sense. I don't remember if I tried right-click drilling with the single arm attachment drill for a turret controller I use on the rover I shared. I use the single drill arm for boulders that have ore in them and clearing specific areas.

The front attachment in that blueprint runs itself. If that attachment prints (needs the Conveyor Hinges mod) for you all you have to do is set the parking brake and activate the hinge (slot 5). The drills go up and down automatically. A sensor reverses the hinge when it gets to 70 or 80° positive or negative.
I asked Whip if he'd add right-click to the TCES script for drills so we could use it for that.
It might help if more than one person asks for that feature in the comments on the TCES workshop page.
