Hi, Steam Deck is not supported, it's Linux based and may be better if you install WIndows on it.

OR

Join the SE Community on Keen Discord to have access to the "Linux' channel, a Linux user may know how to make it work on Steam Deck.

All can join the SE community from the Discord permalink added to this pinned :

Once on the Keen Discord -> Go to the Role selection channel to choose PC role to unlock the proper community -> Go to "Linux" channel to ask for help.

Another thing to consider
-> SE game uses all keys on the Keyboard and more with combo keys so you will surely have a hard time to fit all keys on Steam Deck.

Yes I ended up being told that and got everything working but now when I click the triggers the ui on the bottom of the screen flickers non stop so idk how to fix that

I do not play space engineers on my deck as SE for me requires visual studio on a second screen but ... If I play other none deck friendly games on it, when I am on holiday, i plug a keyboad and mouse into it. would this work for you?

Thought I would chime in a moment

I do not believe Linux is the issue here. Because I main Manjaro Linux on my desktop. Space Engineers runs without any issues at all on it.

I believe the better explanation is there is no controller support.

(RANT: My personal experience is that any game that does not run on Linux is because the devs go out of their way to prevent it, or use an anti cheat that does not play nice.)

I saw some asking Linux users able to run SE and I think one was able to make it run on Steam Deck, and why I recommend to ask Linux users.

Indeed, SE uses all keys on the Keyboard and more with Combo keys, surely hard to fit all on Steam Deck.

The way I solves this issue was by binding the back buttons L4 and R4 to do a mouse left and right click. The UX will glitch between controller and keyboard layout, but it doesn't break anything.

I really don't know much about gamepass but I saw players buying it and they were not able to connect to Steam.

That is about what I know and best to ask the SE Devs if you need the right info, the contact links are in the pinned green messages but I can share the important here.
