what are the server requirements?
I want to build my server for playing engineers with my friends 24/7. 8 people. what components are needed? Requirements to the Internet?
the maximum that I can afford is to build a server on the base Intel Xeon W-2000. In other words the budget is about 800-1000$. Сheaper-better.

I use at home sometimes and my CPU is a bit under the minimum so I tested all Premade worlds to find the one with a better in-game Perfo and end up using the "Red crashed ship" where I pasted Earth and its Moon at the smallest size = My PC prefer ;)

I recommend to test all Premade different worlds so asteroids and planet worlds to find the one where your PC will have a better Perfo.

1 - Try the default Safe mode especially made to have a better MP Perfo.

2 - Try the "Red crashed ship", hit Shift+F11 to see the world stats on screen and take a screenshot to campare later with the other worlds.

3 - Try the Star System and hit Shift+F11 to take a screenshot ...

4 - Now go enable "Experimental" and redo the above tests with all in.

Doing so will tell you what your server can support better.

Oh! I will share this very cool and very easy way to create worlds :

I always create my server world in Local Offline creative mode the very first time I create the world, load it to test and/or add a "Sarting Station/PVP setup", save exit to set "Public + Survival" and transfer that Local save to the Dedic Saves folder.

That is how I create PVP worlds or just want to play in a old save of mine with friends and it works very well tho we must enable use "Saved Worlds" form the Dedic console so it will use the transfered save.

Hi Dan2D3D .

Thank you for your valuable information on setting up the world. But first i need to build the server itself. Specialized for Space Engineers. Thank you for the link to the site. I'll deal with it.

The minimum is 3.5GHz but it will run better if you can get a 4.5GHz CPU with at least 16GB RAM tho it says 10GB RAM on the website.
Satalar 40RUS Jul 19, 2020 @ 10:48am
Does it need a lot of cores? the base Intel Xeon W-2000 CPU will be perfect? price-quality

New i5 4 or 5 cores if just 4 players and i7 or i9 for active public server with 14 players.

New i5 have a 6 cores. Thanks the AMD. But motherboards are very expensive. What will be better i7-8700K or Intel Xeon W-2000? the game likes RAM. 4 channels in the server version will not be better? Or is it better to have more cores? The one-core performance of the i7 is not much better Xeon...

I only tested with 4 cores (2 to 4 players) so I don't know how it goes using above that but it's surely better.

How much players will be playing at the same time?

That is the question that will tell you what will be better to use.

Also from a SE Dev => i7 8 Cores, 8 Threads @3.6GHz would be the very good and way better than AMD Ryzen 12 Cores, 24 Threads @3.8GHz
Satalar 40RUS Jul 19, 2020 @ 11:57am
so i7-9700K is the best solution for 8-12 people..?
Dan2D3D  [developer] Jul 19, 2020 @ 12:15pm
Looking at the public SE servers I found one using 45 Mods, No PCU/Block limits, 8 planets and all this with 6 core CPU, 32GB ram so you should be fine with i7-9700K :selike:

It does not specify the amount of players in but says it got 6 Factions in already.

$ 802 per set. excellent

You could also go with AMD, which will give excellent performance but runs a risk of encountering issues with SE

I've got a spare i7 4790k I've tested. It runs into problems too. No idea why. It's basically the perfect CPU for an SE server. But whatever.

hedgehogs cried, prick, but they continued to eat the cactus...

Problems with the game, this is another topic. But the game nevertheless really wants to play. Optimization is not expected. We have to take "iron" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
