Using Pistons
i have been using pistons with magnetic plates to hold items, also push and pull things together, but one thing eludes me when i use a piston which has conveyor ports both ends, going from one conveyor junction, extending to contact another conveyor junction, the piston does not transfer stuff through it? is this a bug or a game mechanic?
Trying to make a modular base, using pistons to pull together, merge blocks to join to become one base, and pistons to extend and transfer stuff between them, currently i have to delete the transfer piston and replace with a couple of conveyor tubes so stuff will transfer between the two, so i am curious why this is not working, ie transfer stuff through a connecting piston, any feed back will be appreciated.

The Conveyor port on the end of a piston only transfers to blocks that are built onto the piston. For a conveyor connection that you can break & move around, the easiest solution is a pair of connectors (one on the end of the piston, one attached to the block you want to transfer things to). There are other solutions as well, like using an Advanced Rotor body on the other block, and an Advanced Rotor head on the piston, which only takes up one block worth of space between them, rather than two.

Are you saying you are just extending the piston so that the conveyor junction on the piston head just touches a conveyor junction? If so, the grids are not connected so they can't transfer anything between them. You need to merge block the head of the piston, or the conveyor junction attach to it, to the grid with the conveyor junction on it. However, doing so would require you to grind off the conveyor junction to detach it.

Another way to do it would be to use connectors instead. Put a connector on the end of the piston and a connector on the grid you want to connect to, extend the piston until you can lock the connectors together and then you can manually transfer stuff, have blocks automatically pull stuff through those connectors or use conveyor sorters to move things where you want them.

ah yes that solved it, using a connector on the end of the piston, Thanks for the feed Back :hellionyarr:
