Old entities removal (Question)
Hey!

So i've been playing this game lately, i have almost 100 hours playing this game that i bought like a week ago (I am in love with this game).

So I'm playing with a friend and so far it's been great, we doing things slow and finally managed to get out of earth for good (after probably 10 attempts), but I (server owner) managed to realise my cpu load is starting to go higher and higher, i remember seeing the thread load at around 60-70% when we started gaming, but now on earth with a quite nice base, it went up to 100% and it stays now there, my friend starts complaining about him clipping through for seconds, and I am starting to feel some screen spikes (like lag spikes), so I Googled the problem and lowering shadows brought it back to 80%, which is good too i think.

I managed to find on Google that shadows are generated for each voxel (which IMO is amazing, brings so much immersion to me) so i've been searching on ways to clear old buildings, crashed ships, crashed pirates, etc... and so far i'm clueless.

That's why I'm here today to ask about how we can manage to clear the server to prevent high CPU loads and keep letting my friend play without lag, and also myself in the process.

Here's my specs:

CPU: Ryzen 5 5600.
(note: i also have my gpu at 40% most of the time, so no bottleneck there).

I mean, my cpu is quite decent... It should handle a lot more than this... I'm worried since we are really LOVING this game, and i believe we're planning on spending more time here... but the CPU might prevent us to enjoy it as much...

Any clues on what i can do?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, you said "server" => means that you run the SE Dedic in your second PC ?

-> or you run a Local save set on Friends mode ?

I run a local save when I play with my son and we have a better Perfo when both PC game graphic are set on Default Medium no more than 70 FOV.

+
We also have a better Perfo when we play in asteroids only worlds, it's less demanding on my PC (the host) than running the Star System world.

Your PC may have a hard time to run the game and stream all data to the connected PC (your friend) in same time, so I recommend to try asateroid world to compare the Perfo and use the world your PC can Host better.

Edit
Sorry corections made.

Hey Thanks for your response!
Yes it is a local save, so I also render whatever graphics my friend is running? that is an actual surprise :o

Thanks for the asteroid tip by the way! but we're already planning on basing on all the planets the game has to offer hehe, thanks for the tip tho, we'll check it out!

anything else that might be worth noticing?

Edit: gremmer

Not really, it's more the time it needs to load all in, playing on High graphic will take more time to load terrain when flying at 100m/s while the other PC set on Medium will load faster for example, and that can give streaming problems.

There's 2 ways to clear old junk from the world without having to go around and grind stuff down. In the admin menu (alt+F10) there's an option to go through the entities list, and you can delete old grids, floating objects, and even asteroids from there. You and use shift-click and ctrl-click to select multiple objects from the list.

The other option is to load the save in SE Toolkit, where you can do this as well.

I tend to do this manual cleaning regularly, as I often have trash cleanup disabled.
