Add components from build planner.
I tried using this feature on my starter base. I accessed the base inventory from the cargo container which is connected to a basic assembler and a survival kit among other things. I add the components x10 and it queues them at the survival kit (and fails to queue all of them for obvious reasons) instead of the basic assembler. How do i make sure that the queue is sent to the assembler?

In your "Production" tab, there's a little drop down on the right, it will list all of your production blocks.
Select the one you want to use

no wait.. the drop down thing is on the LEFT.

Sorry, yeah.. it's on the left.

I never have the survival kit selected in the production tab and the queue isn't sent from the production tab, it's sent from the inventory tab. I queued up another batch but used the 1x instead of 10x and it used the assembler. I've no idea what changed.

Not sure if this helps but:

shift+middle mouse button at any cargo access point adds needed parts from build planner to production cue without needing to go into the menu

Alt+mmb places ores and parts into storage

mmb withdraws parts for build planner and creates a build plan if a block is in your hand, unless a previous build plan is still needing parts.

Right mouse button creates a build plan from incomplete blocks

Big thing too: build planner doesn’t pull from subgrids

The issue was never with existing components being pulled, it was queuing production with the right assembler. The issue resolved itself and I've no idea how or why. I've since removed both the basic assembler and the survival kit and replaced them with upgraded versions so now i only have one assembler which handles planner queues.

Welp about a year late but just had the same issue and realized that I left the basic assembler in 'Disassembly' mode. When I changed it back it started working, obviously. Might want to check that if anyone runs into this
