Reason for limited planet mods ?
So i restarted a previous save i made, with 4 galaxies.

These galaxies consisted of the following:
Star 3 to 5 planets, some with moons, few gas giants.

Concluding around 20ish in total, now i can not start this save no more, not due to broken mods, as i individually tested them, but due to the fact my game crashes, before it even loads in.

Error message is always the same, graphics card overheating ? which is untrue.

I look trough the logs, and it always seem to not loading stuff at a certain point anymore, eventhough i have all settings set to unlimited, and it used to work.

The save itself is roughly 450MB as i was still working on it, with nebulea and asteroids, now i can not continue anymore due to this error.

System i have is very much capable of running what i create.
More then enough ram, and graphics card is up to the task as well.

So i wonder, have you guys limited the amount of planets you can have ? or a limitation on loading items, or what because i can not continue now with what i created, and am not happy with this.

Hi, that happens all the time after a major game update where some Mods need to be updated to the new game version, testing all Mods after a game update is the "Joy" of playing with Mods.

Here are the steps we all do after a game update to find the mods that needs to be removed and reported.

How to test a world or find broken conflicting Mods :

1 - Select your save.
2 - Click the "Save as" button on the left.
3 - Change the save name to create a *copy.
4 - Add and Withdraw one Mod at a time in the copy.

5 - Report to the Mod author (on WS item page) when broken Mod found so he can fix/update his Mod, always very kind to let them know.

*copy
Never test with your original save, better create a copy and fix the original save when solution found in the copy, this way you will not mess up your save.

I will add :

Planet Mods are the worst because we may have to replace the Modded planets if the author does not update it, and removing the planet can be a big problem if there are stations on it.

When i encountered this issue, after starting it up, that was the first thing i did, went trough all the mods one by one and all seem to be working fine by itself, but as soon as i add more then 10 planet mods, and this regards only to planet mods, all other mods work just fine, so after 10 planets added, regardles if in pack or seperate, my game just decides nope not gonna have it anymore, and when i look trough the log after this happends, it always seems to stop loading in textures, like it has run out of memory or space, yet when i test each and every planet by itself, no errors exist.

I have more then enough space on my hard drive, and 32gb of memory, so i do not know at this point, contacting the authors is not really at a point as the planets by itself load just fine, even 10 planets at the same time, with no other mods included just starts the game with no problem, it always start at the 11th or 12th planet, then when i remove these planets, then all is fine again, and it does not matter which planet mod i activate, even ones that i made myself, which i know 100% that are good, fail to load.

I see, so the planet Mods are tested OK.

I never added that much so there may be a limit, I will have to test with +10 Vanilla planets and retest with +10 Modded planet to see how it goes.

You may contact a SE Programmer, he will tell you if it is a bug or a game limit from a new created "Bug Repoprt" on the Support Portal.

Also, don't worry about the "graphics card overheating" message because it's just "suggestion" and always the same message for all crash.

First test done with Vanilla planets

Details :

1 - I have created a new world, the one named "Star System".

2 - Disabled all the NPCs (Cargo ships, encounters, drones...), disabled Economy because it is a must on creating a new world before pasting new planets, and also disabled Weather.

3 - Loaded and pasted new Vanilla planets, I am at 15 planets in and all good so far :

Conclusion, so far :
-> Seems to work very well adding more Vanilla planets with the world and steps I have used.

EDIT
I have used the Spectator mode F8 to fly far away from the existing planets and paste new ones.

Hmm, this is just very weird, i got same result with vanilla planets, i can add countless, well to a certain limit due to space occupation, last time i tested to add a lot of planets to make a bigger star system, i capped out at about 40 planets, but that has been a long time ago, and this included a lot of modded planets, this save i am using is about a year old, and when using single mod planets, it works fine, and i can spawn plus play, however like i stated, the more planets i add after a certain amount, the game just wont start anymore, and it hangs on loading textures, this is only when using modded planets, from the most recent on workshop, to some of the older ones, which by itself work fine, well sifted trough the ones that did not work, but yeah you catch my drift.

Anywho, i am now trying out of figuring out, instead of single file planets, to pack them in a mod, as a repack, this seems to counter the loading issue, but i still have to learn how to pack multiple planets in 1 pack :S

Hard to tell when using Mods because we are not sure if some are conflicting so not able to run together and have to do more testing one at a time to pinpoint the conflicting ones.

A SE Programmer would tell you more from a new bug report on the Portal.
