Report a translation problem
It happens for specific blocks so the best is to pinpoint the ones that shows a blank cube so list the blocks by comparing with the pasted one and send that block list or screnshots of both to the SE Programmers to push on the fixing.

Put everything you need on the control bars of cockpits, timers, event controllers, buttons, sensors, etc - into special groups. Even if it is a single block. Make a naming convention - for example, special groups created specifically to avoid grey cubes after the grid has been printed - all start with @ so that these groups are displayed together. Then add @groups, not cubes, to all toolbars.
Groups persist even if all blocks of the group are deleted. Or not built yet.
I think the only way to delete the empty group is to add a block to that group (if you can remember the name of that group) and then delete the group using the Delete button to the right of the list.
There is no "delete empty groups" function in the game or I do not know how to access it.
