To keep your inventory on exiting the server
-> We must enter a Cryo Chamber, that block was especially made to save the character posution and inventory while the Cryo keeps you alive when you are not on the server.
-> We can recover the player back pack / inventory when the character is killed by respawning close to where you got killed and recover your "Back pack".
<BackpackDespawnTimer>5</BackpackDespawnTimer>
It's set in minutes, the same setting is in the options menu for servers, but in local games like so many other potentially useful settings, it can only be changed by editing the file with a text editor...
Rox, is this for a dedicated server? It's amazing how little info Google has considering this game's been out for several years.
Maybe ask the Kind SE Modders community helper on Keen Discord, one may be able to make that Mod for you.
All can join the SE community from the Discord permalink added to this pinned :

Once on the Keen Discord -> Go to the Role selection channel to choose PC role to unlock the proper community -> Go to "modding-art-sbc" channel to ask for help.
The setting is available in the server GUI from Keen, most game server hosting companies primarily use their own web-based interfaces, most of which are incomplete, very outdated, and only allow access to some of the options, and have no info either, and many of which include and set options that are now obsolete and omit ones which have been added in recent years. The backpack despawn timer can be set on local saves only by hand editing the save, it can be edited in the file Sandbox_config.sbc which can be found in
%appdata%\SpaceEngineers\Saves\<your Steam ID64 number>\<name of save>
And Google can only find things that are on the Internet, there are many undocumented features that are not to be found documented anywhere online. It has been shown that some of them are not even known or understood by the present staff of Keen, because they always had a high turnover of staff and never had any policy on documentation or record-keeping...
