Keep looking. It's similar to stone in appearance so best to have an ore scanner.

wafers you wont find, you meen just regular silicon ore?

from a distance platnium uranium and silicon look alike. tho the abundance is usualy much higher when it comes to silicon. look for gray/dark spots

for the ore detector you need mainly iron and nickel. the large grid ore scanner is most powerfull and can detect ore 150 away. the small one only does 1/3 that sometimes not even detecting true a thick layer of stone. your drill scanner wont detect it till your right ontop.

every astriod usualy has next to iron and stone 2 other resources (mind some ice does not detect) if you dont have a ore scanner yet then your best bet is to inspect the smaller riods, stone layers of these are much thinner, or the rocks on a plannet, bigger astriods usualy much harder to figurout what they have.

if your starting out and you just need a bit of silicon to make your first circuits consider reprocessing some of your windows (your assembler can deconstruct these parts back to ingots)

Nother good place to get some circuits is grinding down your door's gravity generator collectors and connectors as you wont need them till you build a decent miner.

a nother good thing todo in the start is to powerdown machines you dont need(yet), gravity generator asembler and refinery till you found some uranium, this extends your fuel supplie from 10minutes to several hours and give you time to find stuff. keep in mind movin big grids around will cost power you basicly cant aford in the start. park somewhere save and try a more effcient way of transport.like your jetpack or some wheels, taking apart what you spawend in should provide you with plenty of stuff tobuild some basics.

i've got tons of uranium and platinum and ive finally found silicon i have 1500 silicon wafers now :D

you have to mine silicon then load into refinery refine it into silicon wafer. having a problem here on my game is Nickel to make motors.. due to the space engineers game eliminating the asteroids start which they should bring back
