Disable meteor showers in existing game
I'm playing on normal "difficulty" right now on a game I spent probably 15 hours building it and don't want to start over.

I tried looking through the sandbox file to see if I could disable it but couldn't find anything.

It is rediculous how many meteor showers there are, I am sick of hearing "meteor shower inbound", the sound of metors hitting, and 8 gatling guns firing 40% of the time. They are so frequent that many times the "meteor shower inbound" voice over laps. They come probably every two minutes. It doesn't add difficulty to the game, its just annoying as hell.

Agreed. Disable them. Dealing with them and their havoc becomes a full time job and so tedious that it isn't worth it.

I don't think anyone plays with them turned on for long.

You only get that option when you first create a world. I want to keep my existing world because I spent countless hours building it.

There has got to be a way to disable them for an existing world.

Select your game when you go to continue it, click "Edit settings" then change the "Evironment Hostility".

Alternatively you can edit the Sandbox.sbc located in "C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves\YourSteamID#\YourSaveName"

If you choose to edit the file, be sure to back it up first. Edit "<EnvironmentHostility>NORMAL</EnvironmentHostility>", Change "Normal" or whatever it says to "SAFE". Save, exit, start the game.

Yes go to where you load your game, but instead of loading, look for a box to edit settings. You can also go to advanced settings and change any of the settings on your game, even creative vs survival modes. Hope that helps.

A friend of mine does. Is frustrating when I go join his world sometimes. Lol.
For solo survival, they are okay. But on a server, all of those craters start to add up in terms of file save and game loading on the client side.

If I wanted a hostile environment, I'd move to Chicago, Seattle. or Portland.
