Can you control rotors with your mouse?

Nope, only through the terminal, your hotbar through the G-menu, or by binding them to buttons. Sorry.

It's a shame. Well, thanks for answering.

No prob Bob.

Maybe they'll add it some day.

I was thinking about a turret on rotors and using your mouse to orient where you fire.

You can do that with a couple rotors and a gyro. Be nice if you could do it without the gyro though.

yea, i just tested it, with 3 rotors going in x, y, and Z position with a few gryos it moves pretty fast. Its a little wobbly, but probably turning in breaking power some would fix that. It seems to matter where you put the gyros....I put too many gryos all over and slowed the gun turret down alot.

there also seems to be an issue with placing gattling guns on platforms, so can use the rotor drilling technique to get a small rotor in to use the small ship components

You got a pic? I don't know that I've seen a 3-rotor variant.

How well are all three rotors aligned with your turret seat and turret base's center of mass? I find that with a heavy armor counterweight I can ususaly get the centers of mass for everything to line up pretty well so that it doesn't wobble or turn to one side when I fire.

okay, got a few pics of it from different angles.

this was a rough prototype that I was just verifying that you could move your mouse to move around rotors with. It does wobble a bit, but it moves fast with the mouse because of the gyros. I added the 3rd rotor because I couldn't aim/shoot up. I'm sure it could use some refinement and being spruced up a bit, but for basic testing it worked for what I wanted.

I've tried using three rotors but couldn't get round this problem... Could you help please?

not sure what your doing, are you trying to combine two rotors for one plane working together or you trying to get all 3 rotors for x, y and Z movement?

DId you look at my pic on how I built it?
^Kevin^ Sep 2, 2014 @ 2:27am
yea, your not getting all 3 directions, you got one at the base, and the 2 rotors are both going in the same direction. you also need merge blocks and syncronize two rotors to work together, and to have them work with two other rotors I'm not even sure if that is possible...

if you thru a few gyros on it, it might just sort itself out by aimining with the mouse, but you still need another rotor going in the third direction.

at the base add a third rotor that adds a third dimiension....

did a search for manned turret in workshop and someone came along with a better design. its smoother than what I was doing, its not all jerky.

yes two rotors on the one plane for stability, just like ya do with large doors and yes I did do the merge block to sync them. When only using two rotors it works fine. Mouse controlling pitch and yaw, I don't need to worry about roll. It also works with 3 rotors using two on either side for pitch but It won't go past 90 degrees on the yaw and keeps trying to return to zero. But only for yaw not for pitch

Yeah that is sick! See mine is very similar and operates just the same when only using two rotors. Might just leave it at that. Love the way it rotates into position. Never thought of doin it like that. Mines on a piston that raises it through the top deck. But I like that idea more, Def more compact
