Space Engineers announced for Xbox One!
Dear Friends!

We are happy to announce that Space Engineers is going to be released for Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, via the ID@Xbox self-publishing program and it will remain exclusive on Xbox One for twelve months. The news was first announced live during the Xbox news briefing at gamescom 2014.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
The 12 months exclusivity relates to consoles only. PC version and possible other ports (eg. Mac, Linux, mobile, tablets) are unaffected by this. Unless the game is already feature complete, don't you think that this is a bit early to be porting to other platforms?

Usually, 'Xbox exclusive' really means Xbox exclusive, no other platform, no other console, no PC.
No offense, but the efforts should be concentrated on the platform you're already supporting... :-/

Also, i have the weird feeling that there goes our chance to ever see a linux dedicated server... :(
Congrats Devs! This is a effort aknoledgment by a third party.
But please dont abandon the pc platform... Microsoft deep pockets can be a temptation...

Actually, there are 3 types of PC platforms: Windows, Linux and Mac.
But I agree, would hate to see this game leave PC behind.
We're not leaving PC behind at all, the ''Xbox exclusive'' line means Console exclusive to Xbox, as in it will not be on PS3 for the forseeable future.

Our development of the PC version will not be hindered at all, if anything it will increase the development of the Pc version of SE as we will be able to expand the team more :)

THATS AWESOME because my computer sucks and I have an xbox 1 with no games
(Not to mention space engineers being my favorite game ever!!!!! (So far))
But can we upload worlds? Will there be multiplayer? I would love to see cross platforming! Will it have mods? How will I use all the controls like physics shapes?

When can I expect to be able to pick up Space Engineers on the xbox one? I love the game on PC and would like to support you on my xbox as well.

Yeah this is a good move. Minecraft hasn't even set a release date for Xbox 1 (or PS4) so they'll have that market to themselves if SE releases fast enough. Exclusive to Xbox console wise, not bad; most PS4 owners have PC's good enough to play Steam SE, not all Xbox owners have good enough PC's.

~Speculations~
Might have some network configuring with Xbox's but thats probably already done (weeks worth of work).

Updates for PC will probably still be weekly because its easiest to update, Xbox version updates will probably delayed a week just so a more polished update for the console doesn't crash as often. Consoles are simply expected to be more stable.

Its a win/win/win. Thumbs up on the speed of getting a console version up and running.
