How do I share access to my ship with my friend?

yes, I believe that if you make a faction then get him to join your faction, then you can set items for faction members to use.

i just have it set to no faction (default) and go into creative have him copy it and past to where he wants it.this works if you both want your own version of the same ship though

an easy way to do this without creating a faction is to highlight everything in your control list and then set it to nobody. this will make it available to anyone at all. if you have other players that you want to keep out then i recommend creating a faction set the ship to you and then set the second option to share with my faction.

1) get him in oyur faction, then set your thing to "share with faction"
2) set your thing to "share with everybody"
3) set your things ownership to noone
