Ship printer for small ships
I can't seem to figure out how to build a small ship printer, and I mean really small. I'm trying to build a super carrier for my fleet but I have no idea how to make a tiny ship printer for the hanger bay :/
Halp pls

First question: do you understand how projectors, pistons, and grinders work?

Pistons yes. Projectors and grinders not so much.

Correct me if I am wrong. but if the welder is fed the requred components it can straight out start building? Right or wrong? Im guessing because it interest me as well... could make some automated platform to push out drones.

Alright, the projector component of this is more important than knowing how grinder blocks work.

If you're not pasting ships, you're using a projector block. Projectors must be powered, loaded with the desired blueprint, and set to display the blueprint in the right relative position and orientation, which requires more work than some people care to put into a game, but hey, you're playing Space Engineers, so you probably enjoy that kind of stuff anyways. When positioning the blueprint, it is important that some block in the projection is in a valid position and orientation relative to an existing block, in that you could manually place the displayed block in the same position and orientation as the projected block. The projected ship must extend from the ship projecting it. Large ship projectors can ONLY project large ship blueprints, and the same goes for small ship projectors and small blueprints. Once the ship has been welded by (I'm assuming you know how the welder part of ship printing works and/or already have it built) the large ship piston-welders, you have to sever the connection (and optionally replace the block once the printed ship is clear of the grid holding the projector).

I hope that clarifies some of it for you, or better all of it. Though that wasn't my most thorough explanation, I'm trying to respond quickly and succinctly.

you're doing this in survival? that's a lot of resources... I figured out how this works from watching a youtube video showing such a machine.

I've set a base in a very interesting asteroid I had the luck of running into. Has a lot of nice minerals. So it is expansive but considering I got most of the ressources next to my base, it might be doable. :P

Should I just look up on YT or theres is one specific video youd recommend?

Thanks a lot for the explanation, feel like it's gonna help slot once I get back to my PC.

This is the one. Personally I studied this for a while and went frame by frame to figure most of it out, but some of what I got was assumptions based on educated guesses informed by my experience of the game mechanics.

Thank you very much. I will watch it right now. ;)

Yup I guess I am correct. But since I just want to produce unarmed multi-use drones (wich ill manually fit with guns/tool) i wont need such a big one. But seems like I guessed right for once!

Further proves how well designed the game is from an engineering standpoint. It isn't so overcomplicated that it would make ones imagination useless. :) Also I created a monster.... guess what I did with it.. you will never guess.

PS: A self tracking nuclear torpedo maker.... the torpedo is created over a pair of landing gear to hold it in place. They are already all set for destruction! Press a button, wait for the building cycle to finish. (about 30s) and release the beast. And pray it dosent miss because the targetting head dosent make a difference between friend of foes... but god it is effective.

If I will never guess, why do you ask me to guess?
